I have been out of MTG for a while and just recently gotten back into the game, since then I hear that rules have changed and certin cards are not allowed in the type 2 and extended formats. I have a few decks made up, but when asked if allowed to play it was a definite NO. I need some oppinions on some tourny winning decks that people had success with. I currently have a pretty decent discard deck but it def needs some tweeking since the black vise, and rack are not allowed. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Check here for the current Banned/Restricted Lists of the various tourney types.

It'd probably be helpful if you post your deck. I assume it's for Standard (Type II)...

Mono-red is still strong... Pillages are key with the land abuse and artifact manipulation going around...

Check Crystalkeep to see if your cards are allowed...

Also - Blue/Black is extremely strong... It's actually the deck that won worlds this last year and has pretty much ruled the pro scene...

Mono-black is more of an aggro style being played...

Not much going for mono-white or green... but together they're a G/W utility and pretty effective...

Whatever you do - make sure you can remove cards from someone's graveyard... Threshold and flashback and incarnations make all of these decks very nasty...

Look up Glory, Genesis, Wonder, Brawn, Anger and Valor on crystalkeep for some of these examples...
