Creatures 21
4 Cloud Sprites
4 Spindrift Drake
4 ??
4 Serendib Efreet
3 Man-O-War
2 Rainbow Efreet (I own zero Morphlings)

Spells 18
4 Unstable Mutation
1 Zuran Orb
1 Ancestral Recall
3 Keep Watch
4 Force of Will
4 Counterspell
1 ??

Lands 21
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Strip Mine
3 Fairie Conclave
16 Islands

I've never built a deck like this before, so all suggestions are welcome. Basically I'm out of touch with what are considered 'good' blue beatdown creatures outside of a few that I put in the decklist.

EDIT - OK, I've already decided I don't want the Sunken Cities or the Coral Merfolk. The City ties up too much of my mana, the Merfok just aren't efficient enough.

Other cards on the 'may not be right for the deck' list are...
2 Rainbow Efreet (even though I love her)
3 Keep Watch (even though I love them)
4 Counterspell (I'll probably be dedicating a lot of my mana to Conclave, Spindrifts, and the Rainbow Efreets)
3 Man-O-Ware (they are damn good, but I don't know if they are aggressive enough - for now they stay)

That new 3/4 flyer for 3 (or is it 4?) which makes you remove another creature of yours from the game (until it leaves itself). Can't remember the name, from judgement. Works great if you pick that MoW, you'll get to bounce another creature when the 3/4 goes away. I think you'll find the conclave very annoying, rather having that mana to use for another creature and it comes in tapped. If you're into evasion, why not add an unblockable, is it that inefficient? Also a new favorite with me is sigil of sleep on evasion creatures, even though it is vulnerable.

Is this for a fun deck, or a tourney deck? Sea Sprites help a lot with their Pro-Red built in.

Let me get this straight, you have a mox and a recall, but no Morphling? I don't have any of those, but I find it funny that a P9 player doesn't have a morphling. At any rate, he's too expensive for this deck anyways, and where are the Flying men? just kidding.

I like the Judgement guy (Wormfang Drake - 2U) and he could very well find a way in here, but I'm hoping to get something at 2 CC to smooth out the mana curve. I'd play him before the Phantom Warrior b/c he doesn't die to a bolt.

Its semi-casual. I'll never enter a tourney with it, but I wouldn't mind smacking some people around with it at the local Wizards store right after they call me a scrub for playing my Goblin Bookie deck.

The P9 came from my set of Collector's Edition. Way back when I traded my 1 Morphling away b/c I was disgusted with the card, but now when I want 1 they cost $20. Ce la vie.

Regarding the Conclave, I was kind of worried about the same thing. I think I'm going to try 2 to start and see how they do.

Well, without doing a search on all blue 2cc creatures, I can only think of Zephyr Falcon. Probably not the best choice for that slot though... :)

It doesn't look like you have any 1cc guys, what about Manta Riders or something? I'm bad at this too :)

I'd use Spiketail Hatchling in the 2 mana slot, or maybe Cloudskate.

Here is what I ended up building

Creatures 21
4 Cloud Sprites
2 Spindrift Drake
2 Veiled Sentry
4 Cloudskate
4 Serendib Efreet
3 Man-O-War
2 Wormfang Drake

Spells 17
4 Unstable Mutation
1 Zuran Orb
1 Ancestral Recall
2 Keep Watch
1 Time Walk
4 Force of Will
4 Counterspell

Lands 22
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Strip Mine
1 Black Lotus
2 Fairie Conclave
15 Islands

Some of my odd choices
2 Sprindrift Drakes - I want 4, but 2 was all I could find. Its odd, b/c I have 4-8 copies of just about every other Stronghold common. I like this little guy, his upkeep really doesn't sting too much. I might only end up with 3 b/c he's not an ideal turn 1 drop, but I don't mind casting him turn 3 or later.

2 Veiled Sentry - Testing it out as a temporary replacement. I got it out in 1 game and it did about 9-12 points of damage. Really dangerous, but it ties down my mana pretty badly and makes it near impossible to counter or drop more creatures. Solid, but it takes away from the aggresiveness of the deck.

4 Cloudskate - So far so good, the fading doesn't bother me, and its also a very nice target for an Unstable mutation since it and Mutation lose effectiveness at the same time.

2 Wormfang Manta - I went with this over the Efreet as it doesn't force me to tie down my mana, and I've been very happy with it. Its great to remove Cloudskates, Man-O-Wars, and even Cloud Sprites. I've never been dissappointed to draw this (minus mana-screw)

1 Zuran Orb - This is in here as a precaution against other aggro decks. So far its been a dead draw, but after turn 4 against a fast deck I like having access to it. It stays for now.

2 Keep Watch - This might not be the deck for it, but I like its versatility and the fact that it nets me multiple cards at instant speed and a very affordable cost. I cut 1 for a Time Walk which was a no brainer (how I forgot it in the first place I don't know).

I'm going to give this thing a test for real tonight at Wizards, and hopefully my buddy with his nasty type 1 sligh will be around. If I'm lucky I might even be able to get some flying men.

I think you should consider Daze, Foil or Thwart instead of counterspell. I just think that would allow you to be more aggressive and not sacrifice counters.

Definitely play the bounce Island counters. They are great for aggro control.

Most blue weenie deck use Curiosity for card drawing. If you want to kill even faster, try Unstable Mutation.

Miracle Grow is a deck that can smash in Type I. Just play 4 Tropical Islands, 4 Yavimaya Coasts and all the alternate play cost blue counters/card drawing and mad cantrips.
