Answer: They're movies that inspired TV shows.

This was pretty tricky, it seemed, and I was more strict about it than "usual". A lot of people put down that they're movies and TV shows, which is true, but that's really too general and "easy". The key is that they were first movies which inspired the TV shows.

So only DarthFerret, EricBess, and Ransac got it right.

Melkor, mythosx, Oversoul, rokapoke, sageridder, TomB, and train all answered but missed it, one way or another.

Scores:

EricBess: 15

TomB: 14

DarthFerret: 13
Oversoul: 13
sageridder: 13
train: 13

Ransac: 12
rokapoke: 12

Melkor: 11

Mooseman: 10

turgy22: 9

Limited: 7

Lythand: 6
mythosx: 6

cardboardbox: 0

I (try to) do them every Monday & Thursday. Giving a full week is way too long; most people answer within the day I post them, with a couple trickling in here and there.

I post when the answers are due on each question too... :)

Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I wouldn't have guessed this because even though the movies and TV shows for both M*A*S*H and The Odd Couple are well-known, I'd never heard of a "Look Who's Talking" TV show. And apparently, neither has IMDb...

...but clearly at least three people did recall such a show. So maybe IMDb is missing it. They were missing another TV show before when I was looking for it, although I forget which one...

Try this one...

It's a spinoff by another name. "Baby Talk." Who knew?

I think we should've been given the prompt to be more specific. I guessed that they were movies and TV shows, and would've appreciated the opportunity to clarify.

I think the prompt in this case would have given it away. It's up to you guys to decide how "specific" you want to get...

But I mean, c'mon, do you think the common thread is that both are TV shows and movies? Being just given that, I can't tell what the connecting device is: at face value, it's a pretty general answer and a fairly safe one.

In the current question, I'm actually giving a lot of leeway with the answers this time...

I wasn't sure about "Look Who's Talking", either, but I vaguely remembered something. This was probably the one where I was least sure of the answer. I knew M*A*S*H for sure was based on a movie and I was almost positive the Odd Couple was also, so I figured it was worth a guess. Besides, it was the only thing I could think of.

I don't know what specifically other people put, but technically, they weren't all TV shows... I put "They were all movies that were made into TV shows" and I didn't know about the name change for "Baby Talk". There are a decent number of TV shows that get made into movies, so the fact that these went the other way seems significant...

Well, I never heard of the "Baby Talk" thing, so I just said they were all comedy movies and left it at that...Oh well...:)

I knew that Look who's talking was a movie and Mash was a comedy, but never heard of 'baby talk', Mash the movie or anything relating to the Old Couple.

Guess I need to watch more American TV :D
