Top 5 Torment Cards?

Okay, going along with that Top 5 Odyssey thread, what in your opinion are the top cards of Torment? You don't have to list five, that's just a good round number :) but it can be one, or two, or whatever.

Also, although usually a classification like this means it's for Constructed (I think), feel free to make any special notes about any outstanding cards that might do well in MP or "casual" play (as in interesting cards that might have a deck built around it or something).

I'm just trying to get a feel for Torment cards here.

Here're my picks(keep in mind the only time I've played with these cards were at the Pre-Release).The are the cards I found best there.

5. Possessed Aven-C'mon! I'ts a 3/3+ Flyer(flying makes it better than the other possessed)for four mana and no drawback.
4. Churning Eddy-No, it's notreally the best card, but when my friend pulled 6 of them in a draft, he was extremely happy.
3.Mutilate-As Inquest so bluntly put it, the "Wrath of Satan".
2.Devastating Dream(If I got the name wrong, I mean the red one)-Wildfire revisited.
1.Basking Rootwalla-Free creatures rule.

Looks like I'm the only one that thought Possessed Aven and Churning Eddy were good cards.

Schmucks.

Well, you did say you only used them at the Prerelease. So I'm guessing maybe they're good for Sealed or something :)

Churning Eddy is a limited card (and generally worse than Repel or AEther Burst there). In constructed Turbulent Dreams is much better than it.

Possesed Aven on the other hand is pretty good, but IMO not top 5 material. It is however one of the best Torment limited cards.

OK, now I'm oldschool and I prefer creatures to combos, so in no particular order:

Sengir Vampire, a 4/4 flyer for 5 that can get bigger. . . damn. I realize it is VASTLY weaker without Dark Rit, but I don't play standard or extended.

Basking Rootwalla, either a one drop, or use the madness with Narcissism, Mongrel, or opponents forced discards? And he Pumps? Yeah, he belongs.

Others to follow, work yet again interupts my fun. . .

You don't think Basking Rootwalla fits in here? That's surprising (sort of).

It`s like #6 or 7.

The above cards are all VERY powerful.

Shambling Swarm is different from FTK (more defensively-minded), but only marginally less powerful.

You know, I never noticed Sengir was reprinted in Torment; I didn't really read the spoiler and never saw one being played at the Prerelease. How.... interesting (in an odd sort of way ;) )

His mug is the one on the booster pack.

not nearly as good as Anson's but the abilities didn't change.

My other 3 cards are still TBD, I haven't been playing with my Torment enough to pick the others yet. As much as I hate to say it, Chainter's Edict might still be powerful enough in Limited to make the cut even though it seems vastly inferior to Diabolic Edict as a Sorcery. I like Ambassador Laqutas in limited, Laqutas Champion (but I almost like the smaller one better, Soul Scourge). Skullscorch seems very interesting until you see that the effect is easilly avoided early game, I do like that there are many more of the choice cards for your opponent. It strengthens Blazing Salvo when You get them to pay life for your 3/2 creature and skullscorch. I'm not as big a fan of the new 2 cards for a lightning bolt, Shock is better since most stuff is 2 toughness or less anyways, the 3 CC w/ Madness one is better imho.

If it helps, I like them both :)

And the 1/3 which can become a 3/1 for a card too. Blue lacks 3 toughness cheap creatures without wierd drawbacks.

Chainer's Edict is DEFINITELY up there. You couldn't play Diabolic Edict twice, and being a sorcery seldom matters.

While Aquamoeba is neat, I don't think it makes Top 5.

And yes, Fiery Temper is good. Sonic Seizure is good. ("I didn't need to draw that Mountain. I'll turn it into a bolt!") Discarding Fiery Temper to Sonic Seizure is REALLY good.

#1: Ichorid
#2: Basking Rootwalla
#3: Arrogant Wurm
#4: Chainer's Edict
#5: Fiery Temper

Ichorid isn't a complete house by any means. But it does have it's uses and I love a creature that thinks it's not scary enough and has to strap a skull on it's head.
