To MTGO or not to MTGO...advice needed.

Hey those of you currently taking advantage of MTGO what's your opinion on it. The reason as I'm sure you deduced from the title is I'm very seriously considering swapping out my current physical collection for that of digital. Here's a couple of concerns..

How's casual play? Meaning are the rooms barren wastes or teaming with players.

Is it really as buggy as everyone says?

How's the players on whole? I know it's hard to generalize but are most of the peopled encountered cool or butt-nuggets?

Another consideration is my current collection. It's fairly stout I think;

4 Taiga
4 Tropical Island
4 Bayou
4 Savannah
4 Plateau
4 Volcanic Island

4x All Painlands +more

etc. etc.

There's players in my local area but they're soon leaving..pretty much leaving me by myself and a bunch or hack players (even in casual they're hacks).

I've got lots of just about everything. Taking this into consideration if it were you and knowing the how good or bad MTGO is would you still take the plunge?

P.S. I'm going to try and swap a store my collection for a complete playset of ALL the sets in MTGO if I do choose MTGO...think they'd bite?

1 - Where do you live...
2 - Playsets of each of the MTGO sets is not much... you'd be losing a lot of cards...

3 - the game rooms are chalked full... all of them...
4 - you have nothing if the servers crash and the game goes out - and you didn't have playsets of each...

Let me say for the most part I enjoy the MTGO experience. I was on just this morning with a German player who recognize my name is the same as a beer in Germany. This is the second time that has happened. That being said that are some real jerks on as well. Before I would trade all that away, I would spend $10 and try it out first. With your coupon buy tickets, I am sure either train or myself can hook you up with land and commons. so just buy some rares and uncommons and try it yourself. My online name is same as here.

Personally, I like it. I haven't been able to play w/ a RL person in years and I miss the experience. This is the closest I can get. Sure, I'd love to use all of my physical cards, but a nice thing about the game is how it forces you to adapt. There are lots of ways to get dozens of cards for a decent prize - of course, there's countless ways to get cheated if you're not careful.

Basicaly, it's just like playing in a REALLY BIG gaming store - except, you don't have to leave home and you can ignore anyone that's annoying you. I've made a lot of friends there and we have our own little "gaming group" going. I think it's a good thing.

My opinion is to keep your physical collection for the future; you never know when you might start up again. If you had to, you could trade some cards for online cards, but from what I see, what you have is more than enough for what MTGO offers, so it wouldn't have to be a one-on-one swap. Like rkoelsch said, probably CPA or other people that you know on there could help you out in the beginning until you know what decks you want to build and what specific cards to go for.
