These dang newbies!

These dang new people! When they go to a forum, they look way the hack down on the bottom for something to reply to. something that may have been completely abandoned!

My rule is if it hasn't been replied to in 5 days or more I USUALLY don't submit a reply. and if I think that the thread is to important, I will make another one just like it when AND ONLY WHEN it fades off the forum.

I don't think this is to hard to do. And it gets really anoying when new people keep bringing up dead threads!

I don't find anything wrong with it. If they're new and they have an interest in a topic, let them try to revive it. If nobody replies, oh well. If someone does, good for them. It's just a message board, man. Chill.

I'm mostly with Ransac on this.

I'd much rather them raise an old topic than post a new thread about the same topic. THAT annoys me Besides, going by your rule, I wouldn't have been able to post anything when I got back from vacation. And five days? If I have a three day weekend (like I do every other week), that's three days right there. It wouldn't take much to miss the next two.

In short, people should be able to bring up topics they want. Whenever you click on something it should turn black or whatever, so if you see a "unseen" thread in your "last X days" list, and it has mucho replies, don't click on it 'cause you know it's an old thread. THAT shouldn't be too hard either.

...there have been some interesting discussions from as long as several months ago that have proven interesting convrsation when revived. The Off-Topic astrology thread being one fun example.

(Not really back yet, just cruising on the pal's computer. )

Im not averse to rebuilding old threads. In fact revisting an old discussion can be VERY interesting if the passage of time has offered a new perspective on old opinions.


In fact I`d like to see a COMPULSORY second look at any thread that claims a card is going to be broken, or something. Maybe if people looked back at how dumb they sounded first time around they would be a little less likely to spout off in a similarly poorly-thought-out vein in future.

I'd like to put a limiting factor on what's been said so far, and say that "History" threads should not be tainted. Like the first CPA thread, or the "Who want to be an admin" thread, etc... Those are a part of CPA history, and I think it's nice to leave them untouched by time.

Most newbies lack the skillz of which thread to revive. the trading forum is not a good place to randomly post on a topic that is unreplied to for 40 dayz. I am always glad to see an off-topic or deck topic brought up.

It varies with the forum. If it were in the Trading Post or Deck Ideas, for example, I wouldn't reply on them if an amount of time passed. However, the exact reason of the Classical Forum's existence is for people to respond to basic threads, instead of having it created by a newbie every other week.

I wouldn't reply to an old thread unless what I was saying was extremely important and relevant. I read through the CPA Notables for the first time a few days ago, but I did not respond to anything because I didn't have much to say. I like rambling on and on like this.

Well, trading forum would be the exception. The Tournament forum also (you can start a new thread for a new tourney). Decks might have some relevance as new sets come out and might improve a deck and people who have joined since then can see it and perhaps offer ideas.

Turtlewax has a valid arguement. People gain and lose magic cards all the time. Not to mention that have and want lists may become outdated.

Going back to the original topic of this thread, I have no problems with old thread revivals. What I don't like is people making comments on a thread without reading the entire thing. A lot of people seem to just read the first and last message and then make a comment. Normally, you'd wanna survey the whole thread to see everyone's opinions. That shows you're really intersted, don't you think?
