A horrendously-played game, for the most part. When Carolina called timeout with 1:42 left and the ball on the Pats' 15, I turned to my girlfriend and said "What the oink are they doing? They're going to score and leave too much time on the clock and the Patriots are just going to go down and kick a field goal."
She laughed at me later, because she was rooting for the Pats. But that was plainly stupid, as was a lot of the rest of the game. Kasay kicking it out of bounds... blown coverages left and right by both teams... Vinatieri (who will get all kinds of credit for winning another game at the last second) missing two field goals that would have won the game easily...
And those two-point conversions by the Panthers... oi. The Patriots get credit for an intelligent play call on their two-point attempt, but Carolina's were awful. You don't run a pass play when your QB is already completing only 40% of his passes--they should have done a tricky run like the Pats did, or just kicked the PAT, but there's no way they should have been throwing the ball either time.
Not to mention that the commercials were crummy and the halftime show awful.
Grrr.
