The Spark

Yea, that's an interesting article. Too bad Dan had to leave, though... He sure used Corpse Dance a lot, with irritating (and usually lethal) combo's, usually infinite. The article itself sounds like a sound concept in itself, though.

:) Danke! Don't worry, guys. I submitted it here first, they just posted it faster... It'll be on Mindripper tomorrow, too. Unfortunately, I dunno if I'll have the time to keep writing, but I'll try (beats the hell out of doing Chemistry homework!).

I have almost a better way of explaining the "the spark", I only will say this cause I also talked to dan and I was around him for 3 years and a little more and I don't think dave will mind that much.:)

The spark isn't anything that is discribed easy with anymeans (this includes via infinity). Think of a person that has an IQ of like 160 (I don't know dans IQ but this is a raw guess). This person sits down to play a game of magic like the casual player (note this person is not a casual player per say). Then play horrible bad cards, like really bad cards, but that have weird ablities like Restistance Fighter. Most casual players would say that that one use equals more or less useless and cards like fog would work better, now that is throught the eyes of a normal casual player (OGG doesn't count).

Now when someone with 'the spark' sees a card like this then pull out a index of cards that would work well with this but look bad to a casual player. Like taking a Restance Fighter and Cold Storage, now most people wouldn't think twice about someone playing with those cards (other than there sanity). Now looking at a large amount of cards in this person with 'the spark''s deck you will see other things like Echo Chamber. This is a very small example of 'the spark', but at that with more harmless looking cards this player clearly has a more purposeful way to win and solve almost any problem (note this doesn't mean its at all easy to stop cause they have redundant systems all across the board).

The whole way a person with 'the spark' plays is a sort of clarvoyence (sp?) 'I know everything your gonna play and I have the snenergy to stop all of it and make you scream while I do so'. This player also without trying, controls some very charismatic abilities that they will exersise in a multiplayer game and without you even knowing.

I've tried making this deck type but at my base I simply think purely logicly which is something you can not have if you have 'the spark'. To put it this way I didn't win a single game with any of my 'spark' decks in multiplayer matchs without people attacking me from the begining of the game.

Now I leave you with this it is said that humans don't use all of there brain power at once to anylze something or try too, the numbers were like 50% is at use in one point in time. Now these players with 'the spark' seem to be able to completely focus on the game and use a whole 100% of there brain power on figuring out exacting how the game will go forth. I'm trying to make the purestly illigical deck I can right now. After I try it out and see if it works I might post it here (to '??__??' yea I had just a litte help from dan)

Exactly. I'm sorry nobody but the 4 of us got a chance to really talk to Dan, but I do remember the conversation about "the spark"

Maybe it was a sticking moment, because it was right after the last time I saw him play in our school. All I know is nobody who was there for that conversation forgot it.

The Spark is what everyone wants to have, and I think that Gizmo was half right, but the spark isn't merely seeing the deck as a coherent unit, it's seeing the game as one.

Hey, Zadok, your article sounds familiar. Did you ever send it to the Dojo also? Or any other places before now?

No, but I DID post the idea on these forums a long, long time ago. I said then I was gonna turn it into an article, but I didn't get around to it 'til now. :)

I thought Gizmo posted the original thing with the four categories... maybe my memory fails me.

Anyway, it is a good article. You should tell this "Sakurai" to come here.
