Okay. I know I'm "asking for it" but here goes... Imagine yourselves on a design team whose job it is to determine which cards should be included in the "perfect" basic set. Use this thread only for this purpose: Nominations: Nominate up to five cards from each color, including artifacts, multicolor, and nonbasic lands cards. Use any criteria you like. Vetoes: Additionally, nominate up to five cards total as "vetoes." These would be cards that you feel must not be included in a "perfect" basic set. Consider any card not printed since 4th Edition / Fallen Empires as automatically vetoed, as well as cards with or referring to the ability, "shadow." Further assume that cards which have been banned / restricted for a long time as automatically vetoed. If you think I've overlooked something with these guidelines, feel free to vote / veto using whatever sensible interperetation of these criteria you like. The way in which vetoes will affect the nominating process is secret. This is to discourage "campaigning." Suffice it to say that a single veto will not automatically exclude nominated cards; but cards which are vetoed and not nominated will be excluded. Guidelines: (Not following these will cause your post to be ignored, if not deleted.) [*]List only five cards in each category. [*]Label each category. [*]Read previous posts. This is a nomination, not a vote, so repetitious nominations are pointless. Try to think of cards which are not already nominated; it's important to get a very large variety of responses. [*]No spamming. [*]No flaming or otherwise criticizing others' nominations. I want everyone's opinions, and everyone's sensible opinion is as valid as anyone else's. [*]No explanations, please; only card names. [*]No "campaigning." I understand many of you want to influence the nomination process excessively. Feel free to open your own thread to do so. Purpose: If you've guessed that I'm working on a new Apprentice Patch for our Casual Use, you're right. One lesson of trying to create the Casualties of War set was that there are many, many cards which are essential to a healthy constructed environment. The process of trying to mimic these cards without simply copying them proved overly tiresome. That is, I'd much rather concentrate on creating new cards than trying to redesign old ones. Yes, I intend to revive the CPA Constructed Environment by creating a series of small "expansions" based upon an original fictional fantasy setting, its inhabitants, and events. Yes, I will need more assistance later in this process. I will let you know when I am ready for that step. Thanks for your time, participation, and cooperation.
