The Mad Mendicant Knight [Pauper EDH]

Oversoul

The Tentacled One
When I started building Pauper EDH decks around old uncommon creatures that I liked, I knew it was a matter of time before I built one helmed by this particular specimen of...stuff. Lim-Dûl's Paladin might not be the best PDH commander for a black/red Madness deck, but black/red Madness is definitely the best deck for Lim-Dûl's Paladin as a commander. And hey, I had 14 other decks by the time I built this one, so I could afford the dubious decision. Probably.

Oversoul

The Tentacled One
I built this deck over a week ago and forgot to type up the actual list until tonight. Oops!

Got three games in last night. For the first two, I played this new deck.

I did play the deck twice last week. The first game was a three-player pod and I kept an opening hand that I should have mulliganed...

Mountain
Arcane Signet
Charcoal Diamond
Night's Whisper
False Orders
Cloak of Confusion
Disturbed Burial

That's not a keepable hand, but it had cards I really wanted to see in action, and drawing just a single Swamp early would totally salvage it. Really, any land would do. Ten turns later, I never saw a single land. My only spells cast were Fiery Temper (discarded to hand size and then cast using Madness), False Orders (used to change one of Casey's blocks against Eric's attack in an attempt to keep Casey from bulldozing both of us), and Firefright Mage. So yeah, about as bad as can be. Also, I technically won the game. :p

Two other players showed up while we were playing this one and Eric had been looking to check out early. So once he finally broke through Casey's defenses and barely finished him off, he didn't think to tell me that I was dead too. I believe that he had lethal damage on the table, and even if he didn't, I was absolutely in no position to fight back. But he was simply too tired and distracted. He scooped up his cards while I was still in the game. Victory!

Second game was a lot better, although I was eventually outgunned by Stefan's deck helmed by Maja, Bretagard Protector. Put up a fight, but struggled and didn't draw anything especially spicy. Alas, this is a likely fate for what is something of a jank deck. I was down to 3 life and no blockers when Casey managed to win with Laboratory Maniac. Guess my annoying deck distracted the other players enough to kingmake him.
