Bad Sign: Corporate names and logos on pro sports stadiums are a sign of the times--just not this time.
City zoning officials rejected the Pittsburgh Steelers' request to allow Coca-Cola lettering on signs and banners for the Great Hall, a gathering place featuring a food court and team memorabilia at Heinz Field.
The zoning board said the section of Pittsburgh where the stadium is located doesn't allow advertising signs.
"I think it's a disgrace. I'm very upset about this," team President Dan Rooney said following Thursday's ruling.
Heck, we agree with the zoning board--an advertising sign would certainly take away from the dignity and class of a field featuring a giant ketchup bottle.
