The Archmage deck

Alrighty, I've been playing around with the Archmage combo deck
some and here's what I've got. Chalice can be set for (0) if I
need to use it for bounce. Artifact lands do not trigger the
Archmage.

Pretty bad design, right? Oh Well, atleast no one rubbed my face
in it.

Other thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

You might rethink Chrome Mox as it only has 12 spells to imprint 4 are your Archmage. Also how does this win?

The basic idea is to bounce all of you opponents permanments
back to there hand then kill them with a Frogmite. You need to
have the Words and the Archmage (or bounce 3 with thirst)
in play then recast your zero casting cost spell of choice.

Your probably right about the Mox but if I understand the rules
correctly(not sure)I can play the Mox, with Archmage in play,
trigger the Words and not imprint if I choose. Later I can bounce
it back(with words)and imprint.

Its purely a silly, casual combo deck. Not really intended for
serious play.

You might think of Myr Enforcer as back-up, and maybe even two Broodstars.

And Chrome Mox is hella good, but not here. Ironically it fits better into Artifact light decks. In fact, the card disadvantage of Chrome Mox makes it fit into less things than you think it would. Mox Diamond isn't in every Extended deck, is it?

Chain of Vapor is a bad idea. If you want the extra bounce, try Boomerang or that 2U one from Mirrodin.

So lose the Moxes and the Vapors, add Myr Enforcers and Broodstars. That's my two cents.

I've been playing all week with a stupid mono-Mirrodin Myr + Equipment deck I made from all my Mirrodin cards I won at the Prerelease. You definitely need 4 Myr Enforcers since they are zero mana 4/4's that draw you cards off the Archmage.

Thoughcast is effectively a U Sorcery that draws two cards. I have never cast this spell for more than U.

I say add a color. You've only got 12 blue cards in the whole deck anyway. I say either red or black. In either case, I say +4 more Artifact Lands and +4 ManaMyrs.

Black - Skeleton Shard lets you get back artifact creatures. I use this along with Myr Retriever to basically recycle my graveyard back into play. It's nice to cast Triskelion every turn. It's also nice to attack with a 4/4 Myr Enforcer and he dies, tap a B into the Shard to get him back and cast him for free. I also have a Nim Devourer in there because I can sack stupid stuff like Myr Retriever to get him back into play.

Red - MEGATOG!!! This guy swung for hasty trampling 27 damage on turn 6 one time. He's great at eating artifact lands.

You have a lot of extremely useless junk in your deck if you don't have an Archmage in play. I say play Spellbombs and Chromatic Spheres so you can at least search if you don't have the Archmage.

My best draw so far has been
  1. Sea of the Snod
  2. Sea of the Snod, Lightning Greaves
  3. Great Furnace, Silver Myr, equip Greaves, Iron Myr, equip Greaves, Myr Enforcer, equip Greaves, swing for 4.

The deck's both fun and effective. You don't even need the combo: you can smash face pretty good with this. And NO, Chrome Mox does not belong in here.

Ya,......my combo deck is pretty janky. I was going for the 3rd or
4th turn lock. Affinity is probably the best way to approach using
the Archmage, atleast for now. I still think a few Chalice belong
in whatever build I end up with. It should be real interesting with
Affinity.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll keep all of them in mind.

No Chrome Mox :D (thank GOD, where would I get that kind of
spare cash?)
