What about a card that replicates the Cradle effect but less and more powerful at the same time.
It could even be made as an artefact.

when ~this comes into play, choose a creature type.
All creatures of the chosen type under your control gain -1/-1
Tap: Add X mana to your mana pool, X being equal to the number of creatures of the chosen type under your control, and of a color of one of the chosen creature type you control.
It basically goes around being too powerfull with elves and goblins or even Merfolk because of the -1/-1
