Indeed, it may have been the wrong thing to do (from your perspective, anyway).
First, I'll cast Simoon (RG; Instant; ~ deals 1 damage to each creature target opponent controls.).
Metallic and Heart Slivers die.
Then, I'll cast Earthbrawn (1G; Instant; Target creature gets +3/+3 until end of turn. Reinforce 1—1G (1G, Discard this card: Put a +1/+1 counter on target creature.)) on my Courser, making him a 6/6. In combat, he'll deal 3 (fatal) damage to the Battering Sliver and 3 (fatal) damage to your Spider.
Battering Sliver, Canopy Spider, and Nessian Courser bite it. 2 damage to you from the unblocked Ghitu Slinger.

So that's two sweeping waves of deaths. I'll let you do the cleanup on your end.
