*sigh*

I'm glad they've brought back the chicken-hearted Orggs. It's about time that I've got somthing Ir eally want to collect for reasons other than people says the set completly sucks...

The visual spoiler for Judge is up.

Here's the most upsetting card on it:

Soulgourger Orgg

Can you take a look at it and tell me exactly what's wrong, here? I know exactly what's wrong from the precidents set before it.

I'll post my opinons after ya'll take a look at it and tell me what you think you're seeing.

Original Artwork of Orgg, Fallen Empires and Fith Edition versions

Orgg, from the time period of Urza's Desteny, and unexpected appearance I recently realized.

Trained Orgg, Circa Starter/Starter 2000

Trained Me again, circa the latest basic set, Seventh Edition.

Please, tell me I'm not the only one to see how awful the newest interpretation of me is! WHAT THE **** DO I HAVE TENTACLES FOR? I'M NOT SOME KIND OF BONDAGE DWARF/FAIRY!!! /rant off

Added Bonus: Me as an Orgg by D. Alexander Gregory

I don't think it's that bad, but I do agree that the older interpretations are better. Cool pic of you as an orgg!

I remember reading on magicthegathering.com that they were putting tentacles on every nightmare creature, due to Chainer's affinity for snakes. It was in one of the Magic Arcana's if I'm not mistaken.

I was going to say the Soulgorger looks more demonic that I remember, but then I read the thread and looked back at it's creature type so I guess it matches... :p

Well,

That is the Nightmare orgg, can't you have tentacles in little Scryb Sprites nightmares?

*sigh*

I guess I'm just overreacting again. The tentacles could be almost understood, though I'd prefer somthing like a Remove Sould coupled with an Orgg... Mabe I'll try to make a mawk up of what I mean...

Here's my complaints, being the Orgg that I am.

1. Soulgorger's proportions are un-orggish. They're humanoid. The head is on a simi-erect body. All the other interpretations have a hunched back and a large hump towering level with the back of their head, or even over it.

2. Body is not in proper positioning for an Orgg. The entire body is not shown, or at least a 3/4 body view. The Gorger only has a little over half of his body shown, cutting off his legs and breechcloth(mostly.)-- I bet he has wimpy legs, anyway...

3. Its head is much too disproportionate to his body. An Orgg's head(unless it's a pre-orgg, such as in Twisted Experiment) is at the very least half the size of its body. Take a look at all of the Orggs before and you will see that if the size of the head was taken off, the body would be twice as tall as the head is tall.

4. Its Ears are extremly shallow, EVEN FOR ITS SHRUNKEN HEAD! Again, with the exception of the Experimental Orgg, The ears flare out in a conic section that extends halfway across the Orgg's head. This HORRIFYING NIGHTMARE has ears that begin to tunnel out from only a fourth of his total head!

5. Its HIPS are flared out from its body to a larger degree than the others. All of the others have disproportional bodies in a simi-triangular shape that forces the hips to end in line with the armpits below. According to the small sliver of Breechcloth worn by the Soulgorger Orgg, it has hips very similar to a human's! It's shoulders start in line with the hips, and not after the hips end.

6. Y'know, I'll admit that at niteen and still unexperienced with anything more than a dance asked of me at my senior prom, I NEED A CHICK. It seems "I" was given one in this picture... Is this the chick from the fith edition Hill Giant? It doesn't look like it, take a look at the arms on her. Look at the size of the dog in the forground of the original artwork. I approximate the dog as being about fifteen feet away from the subject's positioning, thus making an Orgg about fifteen to eighteen feet tall. The trained versions of me give an impression of a larger beast(excuse my very sad pun), but only because the only methods of comparison are the mountains in the background. Assuming this is an average woman of the five' five" background, or even of the five-nine variety more commonly seen now, this supposed "Orgg" is MY HEIGHT ! I'll REPEAT: MY HEIGHT . Somthing of my height and approximatly a couple hundred pounds heavier(as this looks to be. I'm weighing in at near-four hundred pounds already, so this is quite a lot of poundage) should be at the most a 3/4 creature. A hill giant probably wheighs at five hundred pounds, and is a 3/3. Take some more sturdyness and put Tentacles for hands and you've got somthing that'll probably deal less damage than if it had the HUGE hands of the others.

7. Speaking of hands, look at the forearms of the Soulgorger. Then look at the muscular forearms of the rest of the real Orggs. Even if the tentacles are taken for a granted, it should not have them springing from its arms. Look at the Barbarian Outcast's tentacles. They sprout from under his arms. He's still got arms and legs on him, and they seem to swing backwards and frontwards as well as any others do. This logic makes me want to see Bigass Hands like in all of the other pictures of Orggs, even the Orggish prototype of Gustha's. The tentacles could have easily come from other places, namly the armpits of each pair of arms and under the barly pictured breechcloth.

8. Speaking of the breechcloth, the Soulgorger is WOEFULLY OVERDRESSED!!!! All others have a small string or piece of fabric keeping their vunerables from the unpleasent wind. Their sides(both literal and their backsides) are unprotected, or at least I'd say they were. The little-seen breechcloth should have shown a bit of the greeny hip, even if it was just a little bit of it, and the crop was nessissary.

*sigh*

I still won't disown it, but I'll be damned if I'm going to give even the quarter I'd usually pay for this... tragedy.

I'll give you a nickel for it, boy. I don't care WHAT decks use it!

Here's the kind of thing I was expecting. Even if the "swallow your soul" method wasn't used and the Tentacles were...(*theorgg shudders at the thought of a picture that was e-mailed to him)...

the proportions of the hand:the victim should have been this way.

theorgg: Maybe you ought to contact the artist and correct him/her on his/her interpretation of an orgg... :p

The whole thing isn't an orgg. It just sucks.

HEAR YE HEAR YE: Soulgorger Orgg is henceforth Soulgorger Rosewater, and counts as a Rosewater.

I've already tried to contact Jeremy Cranford about the description of an Orgg to keep this from happening again, but it seems that either he or Mr. Forsythe don't want to hear of it.

TCIM: I don't think it was MaRo's fault. The artist either didn't read the description/look closly at the Orggs from before, OR the artist description is very vague(my thought)

That's probably true about MaRo. I doubt it's his fault.
However, it wasn't your fault or any orgg's fault that someone made the orggs look stupid...
