As with most tribal decks, if you build them from any and all sets, you'll undoubtedly come up with a better build than block..

The best part about this deck is that with the first strikers and all the pre-combat damage, most times you can take out a 12/12 without even fighting it. If they are feeling sheepish, force them to block your deftblade, then pile on 10 damage to the creature.

Outpost is sick.. pumping out 5/6 tokens every turn.

casting a raise the alarm to generate 2 juzam djinn tokens is pretty nice :D

One of this deck's best matchup is against super beef creatures with power 10+

Creatures
4 Catapult Squad
4 Deftblade Elite
4 Longbow Archer
3 Serra Zealot
3 Daru Warchief
2 Ballista Squad
2 Crossbow Infantry
2 Intrepid Hero

Spells
4 Raise the Alarm
3 Disenchant
2 Unified Strike

Enchantments
3 Crusade
2 Mobilization

Lands
4 Kjeldoran Outpost
18 Plains

I notice that you're running 4 Catapult Squad, 2 Ballista Squad, and 2 Crossbow Infantry. I'm pretty sure that kind of rangestrike artillery is unnecessary. Ballista Squad in particular is very costly for the effect it generates. I think you could easily trim that down to 4 Catapult Squad and 2 Heavy Ballista.

I also think that Serra's Zealot is generally a suboptimal choice. Although he is a one-drop, I think that position is much better filled with Advance Scout. For just one additional generic mana, he provides you with an incredibly useful ability in addition to a 1/1 first-strike creature.

Intrepid Hero is good, but typically your artillery and your first-strikers should be adequate to eliminate even large threats (I know this from experience.) You could cut that to one copy of Intrepid Hero or even zero Intrepid Heroes and one Radiant's Judgement.

Your selection of spells is adequate, but suboptimal. Unless you're hellbent on keeping the deck 100% soldiers, Devout Witness is a really good replacement for Disenchant in a deck like this. I also can't really endorse the use of Crusade. For just one more generic mana, you can play with Glorious Anthem and never risk pumping your opponent's creatures. Unified Strike is cute, but typically Swords to Plowshares is going to better. I used to run Unified Strike in my Peasant Magic deck and I ended up changing it to Swords to Plowshares even though StP occupies an uncommon slot!

You may have noticed that the above suggestions resulted in the net removal of three cards. I would suggest those positions be filled with Frontline Strategist. Do not underestimate this creature. The ability to cast a one-sided Holy Day is inculcably valuable.

It might also be worth your while to clear up a little bit of space for some flying creatures. The Aven from the Odyssey and Onslaught blocks are mostly soldiers, so they fit right into the deck. Commander Eesha is very good and Aven Warhawk might be a good fit in this deck. I really like combining Frontline Strategist and Wingbeat Warrior with Aven Farseer (although it probably won't fit well into the existing scheme.)

Soldiers, I love this tribe. A tuned soldier deck can give combat trick headaches to the unlucky opponent.

Dude, your rolling with soldiers and don't have Enlistment Officer? Shame on you. White has a problem drawing cards, this cat helps with that problem.

Urza's Incubator? I used this in a soldier deck once, outstanding! The good soldiers tend to be costly, and this combined with Daru Warchief is straight degenerate.

Daru Stinger?

I'm done.

I always liked daru stinger but just never tried him.

Advance scout could be pretty amazing.
I do have a few swords laying around. I could test against unified.
Unified has just always taken out any creature with no drawbacks.

I've always run Forysian Brigades in soldier decks - blocking two critters with 1 card, is almost like fog...

Then again - there is Holy Day...:D

true! Enlistment officer + reinforcements is very nice

I like piety charm in a aggresive soldier build. It's like giant growth in white :D. Works nice with deftblade elite too and even catapult squad (attack without tapping and shoot any blockers).
