So what the devil is up with these new Wishes?

Whats the general view about them? Whats the official word about them? In casual play, will anyone actually do what they literally say?

Please, I need judgment talk. Anyone.

Wish: Get what you want.

In tournaments: Wish: get the sideboard card you want, right now.

Normally: Wish: Where's my friggin Fireball???

*opponent: You are with mono-blue.

*ME: I don't care! WHERE'S MY FIREBALL???

There is no official word just yet. Until the Judgement page on the Wizards site comes out in June or late May, there won't be an official word. So the exact implications are yet to be seen in tournaments. There is a general idea, however, that they will allow you to search from your sideboard or the removed-from-game pile.

The general word about them ranges from "Oh my God, what were they thinking" to "So they're limited-power Rings of Ma'ruf" to "Cooooool."

As the owner of a single Ring of Ma'ruf, and having used said artifact in casual play, I can tell you what's been accepted in my group. You can get any Magic card you want (in this case up to the limits of the particular Wish) except for those with the word "ante" on them. That includes additional copies of normally restricted cards (I've grabbed an extra Mind Twist in my time) and cards that belong to your friends that they aren't using at the time (this one is the most fun application, IMHO). ;)

They'll be the ultimate casual play cards. I know I'll use them if I get any.

Depends.

In tournaments they let you get your sideboard or removed from game, thats virtually certain.

In casual play, they let you get any card you want to.

In ultra-casual play, they let you get any card you want to, from any GAME you want to. So you can Wish for the Rock Bottom and lay some smackdown on aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall their candy oinks!

Only if the card is appropriate for the card. I could probably get a Wooden Cow of Pasiphiae from XXXenophile with the white wish, but I doubt I'll be allowed to get a creature from some game or another with it.

Also, since this is a better place than the topic in offtopic for this, here's a response to you, FOR.

I do believe admin power has corrupted you.

PS: What do you think about that new Orgg in judge?

After four complaints about two blank pages before "Shady Milk Man", I decided to take the matter in my own hands subtly. I figured you'd simply stop. It worked... and was pretty funny. :D

The Orgg in judgement is... strange. I hope it isn't demonic or undead looking, as I only have a pasty complexion. If It has a beard... THAT would rock. It's an interesting happenstance, and I really do hope it's an uncommon so I can get tons of them. As you know, I ranch Orggs.

I don't really understand what they are all about but I do have
a question.

If I play with this card:

Death Wish
R, Sorcery, 1BB
Choose a card you own from outside the game and put it
into your hand. You lose half your life, rounded up.
Remove Death Wish from the game.

.....in my deck and I happen to have_all_of the cards I own,
including the one's from older sets, can I go get whatever cards
I want?

"Choose a card you own from outside the game..."

ANY SET?

Hmmm.

My opponent plays Faceless Butcher removing my Foo from the game.
I play the green wish (I think), and go get Foo from the out-of-game zone.
Before I summon it, said Faceless Butcher goes to that big meat market in the sky.
Does it get returned to play from my hand? (Never says anything about coming back to play *if it's in the out-of-the-game zone*...) Does nothing happen? Weird.

The Faceless Butcher's leaves-play ability will look for the card in the zone it expects it to be in. Further, if the card is removed from the RFG Zone (say, by a wish card) then goes back there again (say, cuz you didn't pay for a Syncopate cost) the ability won't recognize it as the same card, and won't return it to play.
