Is anyone willing to help me with this?

For those who don't know, I recently upgraded my forum, MTGDarkness, to Advanced Hosting, and I have my own site which I can change however I want to (www.mtgdarkness.com). However, I am floundering like a fish out of water. I have no clue how to get it to stop looking like this and start looking more like this (albeit with darker skin). Can anyone help me out here?
I know basic HTML, and I'm trying to learn via http://www.w3schools.com/default.asp but it's taking a long time, and I'm still as lost as ever... :(

Ed Sullivan would be the best to describe how to design like this page, I think.

Your first step is going to have to be splitting up that graphic. It should not be too difficult to do with a low budget (or even a free shareware version) photo editor. Then you need to decide if you want your banner to remain at the top of the page in its own frame. As for the exact coding for the layout, you would have to have drawn out a site map. After you have that (including the graphics and their locations), then you could get someone to help you with the HTML coding. I have a little bit of knowledge here, but without knowing exactly what you want to see, it is hard to help ya out here.

By the way, you do know how to view the source coding on most web pages (including this one) right?

The one thing I used by far the most when coding a website, are tables. Tables make everything look a lot better, so if I were you, check them out at w3schools for a decent tutorial, then just try messing around with it for a bit.
