It seems like zombies are very popular at CPA right now.
Zombies are my favourite creature type, so I made this thread for discussing, and posting of casual zombie decks. I have 3 zombie decks myself:
First one is mostly a MP deck, based on gravepact. Its an old deck -might be trimmed some with newer cards.
Night of the Living Dead:
22 swamps
1 everglades
1 unholy grotto
1 phyrexian tower
1 high market
4 sarcomancy
2 carnophage (will be festering goblin, when I get more)
1 festering goblin
1 crypt creeper
4 phyrexian ghoul
4 lord of the undead
2 gravedigger
1 lord of the pit
1 claws of gix
1 phyrexian vault
1 infernal tribute
1 umbilicus (works with sarcomancy or gravedigger)
1 kormus bell
4 grave pact
1 diabolic intent
4 drain life
1 corpse dance
Second one is based on the simple idea of playing red zombies. To keep the zombie flavor, I use red spells which can be "digged" after. I like it very much. It simply doesnt run out of threats. There is always a zombie, or a bolt to dig after.
Crematory take-over:
7 swamps
1 urborg (it has flames!
)
9 mountains
4 badlands
2 sulfurous springs
2 thawing glaciers
2 carnophage
2 shivan zombie
1 plaguebearer
2 nightscape familiar
3 pyre zombie
1 lava zombie
2 gravedigger
2 deadapult
1 death pits of rath (in MP I would play more -its awesome fith death spark, but its slow).
4 death spark
4 firebolt
2 hammer of bogardan
4 terminate
3 void
The last one is based on the old zombie strategy: make his lands swamps, and swampwalk him! Trailblazer+ zombies should spoil his manaproduction, until you have enogh zombies for an alpha-strike. Unfortunately it doesnt work at all. I have played a few matches, and lost all of them...
Ideas for improvement are welcome. But probably the whole concept stinks.
Swamp Thing:
19 swamps
3 wasteland
1 dust bowl
4 sarcomancy
2 carnophage (will be festering goblins when I get them)
2 plaguebearer
4 zombie trailblazer
2 zombie master
1 demonic hordes (I like to play classics, and found this one)
4 evil presence
2 blight (yes, sinkholes are better...)
4 tainted well
4 befoul
1 cyklopean tomb
4 duress
4 dark ritual
Right now I´m working on a b/g zombie deck, still using cards which dig, or can be digged after. But it doesnt work that well. A good card which returns from graveyard is rancor, and strength of night and sylvan might also fits an aggressive deck. But I would also like to play the combo unholy grotto+ call of the wild, and this doesnt seem to belong in the same deck. Mulch, sylvan library and revive would also be nice cards to play, and they doesnt fit well in an aggressive deck.
Hope to see lots of your zombiedecks!
