Not wanting a repeat of last game, Spidey starts off a bit more aggresive, stopping the bids at 4 gems.

Apparently, no one else wanted to get that expensive, so Spidey's bid is uncontested. With 2 income, there is a good chance that will earn him something over the course of the game. Especially since it is his turn immediately and he gets 2 of the 4 gems back right away.
I do need to mention that you don't have your old cards anymore. The cricket is gone, so Spidey will have to eat those bugs and slugs by himself
