Has anyone given some thought to a T2 ship deck? Just for fun, of course.
Battle Squadron
3RR, Creature — Ship */*, Mercadian Masques Rare
Flying
Battle Squadron’s power and toughness are each equal to the number of creatures you control.
The goblins made an unruly pile with military precision.
Illus. Mark Tedin
Saprazzan Outrigger
3U, Creature — Ship 5/5, Mercadian Masques Common
When Saprazzan Outrigger attacks or blocks, put it on top of its owner’s library at end of combat.
The Saprazzans excel at both tactics: hit and run.
Illus. Doug Chaffee
Stronghold Zeppelin
2UU, Creature — Ship 3/3, Nemesis Uncommon
Flying Stronghold Zeppelin can block only creatures with flying.
As long as the stronghold controlled the sky, the rebels were doomed.
Illus. Arnie Swekel
Windscouter
3U, Creature — Ship 3/3, Prophecy Uncommon
Flying Whenever Windscouter attacks or blocks, return it to its owner’s hand at end of combat.
These nimble ships were designed for hit-and-run tactics.
Illus. Brian Snoddy
Metathran Aerostat
2UU, Creature — Ship 2/2, Invasion Rare
Flying
XU: You may put a creature card with converted mana cost X from your hand into play. If you do, return Metathran Aerostat to its owner’s hand.
Illus. Greg Staples
Metathran Transport
1UU, Creature — Ship 1/3, Invasion Uncommon
Flying
Metathran Transport can’t be blocked by blue creatures.
U: Target creature becomes blue until end of turn.
Illus. Glen Angus
I suppose I could use the Aerostat to bring out the Battle Squadron so that I wouldn't need red mana. Some Cloud Sprites or Rootwater Thieves for early play and to pump the Battle Squadron.
Splash white, use coastal towers . . .
Lots of flyers here, not much staying power or ability to block blastoderm, except for the Outrigger, which then either gets destroyed or goes to the library where it is the next draw.
Nah, maybe not yet, but with all these ships since Mercadian, I wonder if the 7th will reprint the other two ships that were in 5th edition (Reef Pirates and Pirate Ship) or add some new ones in the next set of Invasion.
