RW Ravnica Control

Jorael brought a cute little card to my attention, namely Searing Meditation. A rare enchantment, which states, that whenever the controller is to gain life, two mana may be paid. A selected target, creatures or fellow player, will then receive two damage.

Excellent.

I put it together quite fast, so I might obviously have missed something. I only played a few games with it, but so far I like it a lot.

Comments?

(I do want to keep it Ravnica-only for now)

Firemane angel is great. Should probably play 4 (if you can afford it) and find ways to get her into graveyard. Make sure you keep the Firemane Angels in graveyard and have your searing meditation out. Then use Razia's purification and keep 2 lands and the searing meditation (or 1 if you have the Boros land).

You may also want blazing archon/priveledged position for more control.

Although if you're playing type 2 instead of block, most definitely use Wrath of God.

Ghost-lit redeemer ain't bad either. Soul warden, spirit link, loxodon warhammer...

Personally I am also looking to have some fun with Boros. I rather like the idea of dealing some sort of boardwipe with Brightflame/light of sanction if need be and then use breath of fury on your creatures. Probably all fliers or something akin to that.

i like how you can use the safeguard to takedown a */5.

I think your deck could benefit from rally the righteous.. i've seen it completely turn around games.. i saw someone playing a helix r/w deck that used blessed reversal and rally...

attack and tap all creatures for a heap of damage... then opponent tries to attack.. you blessed it and kill 2-3 of his creatures... then next turn swing with your fliers and when he attacks to "destroy" you... a simply rally can completely rip thru his creatures..

master warcraft is also amazing... attack with everything.. he chooses NOT to block..
its really annoying.. and giving you 3 turns to attack with everything in a deck with lifegain/doublestriking/haste and flying is insanity..

master warcraft is the most broken multiplayer card as well :)

edit: no red white deck should be without 4 helix's and 4 skynight legionairres

I love Master Warcraft and just about everything about it and would love to use the enchantment Breath of Fury as well.

However, Master Warcraft says nothing about choosing blockers, only that you can choose how blockers block. So what I suppose is that blockers are selected by the opponent and then you, the player of the sweet instant have them block some chump change while your double striker goes in and destroys your opponent, then sac that creature enchanted with breath of fury, untap all of your creatures and blast away again...that is if you have another master warcraft or if you've just downed all of his flyers and the legionaire's just flapping merrily over his his line...wait? Did you damage him again? Take another attack phase...

Nuts, sure! Fun you bet! Broken...takes a bit of mana to do, especially if you want to sunforge for consistency. If master warcraft is ruled the way you say it is Mr. Smith...then it is simply really really awesome and another, what were they thinking card?

Of course you could try incite hysteria as well...a cheaper solution.

You can choose if creatures block or not with Master Warcraft, it gives you total control over how they are assigned or not assigned for blocking.

Q: With Master Warcraft, can I choose to have none of his creatures block mine, or can I only choose which creatures they block after he decides which will block?

A: Yes, this spell is normally going to be "Creatures can't block this turn; I win." You choose all aspects of blocker assignment, including the choice to have all of them sit around picking their nose instead of actually doing anything useful like stopping your 13/13 with no evasion [what Eli means is that you should watch for this guy to tear up Extended soon. No, really.. - Ed]

I allready have four, but I can't seem to find a way to put them in the graveyard from my hand or library.. without splashing another color. (Blue has Telling Time and Compulsive Research). So for now I'll play only two, seeing as I have to cast them first.

Razia's Purification is a great card, but I usually play Multiplayer games and people are really going to be gunning for you when you play that. Moreover, the deck is really mana hungry, so destroying a lot of my own land seems .. incompatible? Besides, I want to be able to reanimate the Angel eventually.. maybe I should just add Signets to accelerate my mana..

Cool idea..

Master Warcraft is great idea.. Its either removal or a way to push through your attack. The only thing I am worried about with the deck, is the amount of combat tricks; I never seem to have enough mana, seeing as I want to give a creature double strike, but also want to give my Sunhome Enforcer a power boost, while sparing mana to prevent damage to my Orduun..

So, a revision:

4x Faith's Fetters
4x Lightning Helix
4x Searing Meditation
Land (24)
3x Boros Garrison (wanted to try these..)
2x Sunhome, Fortress of the Legion (dropped two: doubles are hardly useful)
10x Mountain
9x Plains
More suggestions welcome!

I think you can cut the Bathe in Light and Orduun commandos for master warcraft so you can hit with your Sunhome enforcer (and everyone else hopefully) and gain life.

It is a "control" deck so I wouldn't worry about too many creatures.

Master Warcraft is also amazing on defense, which you'll probably need against any moderately aggresive deck. In multiplayer it's just mean as you can have a player with big fatties hit that control player upside the head that he's been allying with...unless it gets countered of course (may need Boseiju if your meta's getting seriously controlling, I know it's out of block...).

I also like devouring light for some defense if beatdown's becoming troublesome and it's not so devastating as a Razia's Purification, which would get your angels into the graveyard and give you 2 mana (a land and a signet) to activate the searing meditation (you don't need that much mana...then again, neither does weenie). By the time you purify an angel should be out doing neato stuff...or in the graveyard because your opponent is hating on your deck and jeering that you should be playing WWr instead -show him what for!
