I tried reading Oscar Tan's articles. But its like studying for college. It is so dry. Sheesh. When you have fun on that level it seems like work. Anyways just wanted to get it off my chest. At least he doesn't go around saying everyone else sucks and how he is the best thing since sliced bread.

I have no problem with the style, though I do skip the eightyseven pages of Apprentice log dumps in each one.

I like reading them. The thing is, he's been writing for a long time now and though he does "Back to Basics" now and again, for the most part he does assume you are familiar with the Type 1 scene and have played Magic for a while, so his audience isn't necessarily to "newbies".

And even if not familiar with the type 1 scene - reading a few of his articles can get you acquainted...

I agree totally with MythosX. I usually just skim and hope I find something interesting. It's so damned hard to read his stuff, because I'm pretty sure he's mixing the articles up with his legal homework.

I'm sure there's a prof out there who's getting some lively and fun-filled essays on the legal system in his country...

Rasko is awesome, though...I just can't read what he writes because I only have, like, an hour at a time when I read at the library.

you need to download MTGO onto the library computers.

It would make things more interesting, and maybe convince you to spend more time at the library.

I usually do end up spending a lot of time at the library. Reading mags and newspapers and stuff. Funny thing is, I used to be a librarian, so I know all the great stuff patrons can get for free, and all it costs is looking like some cheap moocher who's too lame to get his own dang subscription to Mad Magazine and Outdoor World and the like. (Who would ever pay good money for local newspapers anyway? Or the New York Times, either?)

But the internet time is limited to one hour blocks.

At my old college library, the time is more or less unlimited (with an honor system of one hour) but I stick around until they get ready to boot me. That, along with the fact that I'm no longer a student this semester, makes it so I don't go there too often anymore. Maybe I shoulda never quit that stupid class.

Yeah being a student rocks...I am graduated now but when I am done with this stint as a missionary in Japan and I go home I am going to sign up for some night classes at the local JC. Who can beat access to computers and a media library along with limited health insurance and legal advice for 60 bucks for three months. SCORE!

Mike Long is a dog lover? Meh...I never woulda guessed. Then again, evil people do tend to like moronic animals. I saw a stat on CNN that like dog owners are 5% likely to have dreams of becoming an evil dictator....that's how evil they are.

Cat owners, on the other hand, tend to just be 100% likely to be brazenly insane.

Yeah - i mentioned both, 'cause we both get both, and I do make sure that I have all my books - but hey I need some form of outside stress relief, and since I don't have my compound anymorethere's no dojo worth attending in San Angelo, Magic does it for me...

Though I've recently been using the Ebay money for Magic... all our other "excess" is going into savings, as we prep to move to Maryland...

After playing Grand Theft Auto, I learned that there's a much easier way to get money for cards than loans and such. Simply kill people and steal their money. What a wonderful world!!! Free money!!!
