Your chief problem is that you're running high-CC, substandard land destruction.

If I were to make a B/R land destruction deck, here's how it'd look:

4x Stone Rain
4x Pillage
2x Lay Waste
2x Orcish Settlers

4x Rain of Tears
4x Icequake
2x Befoul
2x Demonic Hordes

4x Lightning Bolt
1x Black Vise
2x Shivan Dragon
2x Sengir Vampire
3x Earthquake

8x Mountain
8x Swamp
4x Sulfurous Springs
4x Badlands

Thanks for the advice!
The main reason I'm using high-CC substandard LD is simply that I don't have any good LD spells. Not one pillage or even a single Befoul (but rest assured they'll be in when I get 'em!).
Could you explain the use of Shivan or Sengir for me, please? Aside from the fact that they're big and hurty, what's the significance?

That IS the significance. Once you've got your opponent's land cut down, you need some way to kill them before they have the chance to recover. Since you should have a healthy dose of land by that time, something big and fat that can kill quickly is called for.

Other creatures that have worked well in LD in the past:
Pit Spawn
Monstrous Hound
Balduvian Horde
Spirit of the Night (rarely)

Of course, Demonic Hordes are a *beating*...one land per turn, or beatdown for 5 if not needed.

I won't even bother suggesting Sinkholes, but couldn't you get your hands on 4 Wasteland or even a single copy of Strip Mine (still restricted on last count). And I still remember Avalanche Riders being high on the efficient LD list.

I have a friend that uses creatures with toughness 5+, such as Orgg, Shivan and Balduvian Hordes, and uses Wildfire as the supreme equalizer. Recently, he's also tossed in Chimeric Idol, because it's effectively immune to both Wildfire and Earthquake.

Get Equalizer. He's Some Good :)

No, seriously, you might need some more removal. Diabolic Edict, Terror, Pyroclasm... you can probably drop the discard for them, they don't work quite as well here (except maybe Duress, I don't know...)
