Question about display resolution

SVGA can support better than 800x600, that was the limit when your manual was printed. I've never even heard of Ultra VGA (unless that is the full name of XVGA).

Go with the 19"! You won't regret it.

I've got a 21" too and still at 1600x1200 my desktop looks like it was designed by smurfs. I do swap my resi to 16x12 when I'm working in Photoshop though, I hate having to scroll constantly.

Spidey, the icons get smaller the bigger your res number gets - I imagine because they are assigned a set number of pixels, and when the pixels are set closer together (a higher resolution) the icons appear smaller.

You can manually change your icon sizes by going to Display Properties, then clicking on the tab for Appearance. Change the Item selection to Icon, then play with the sizing settings from there.

That Icon size question was actually for Mikeymike's benefit, since he mentioned he sees tiny things when it gets that high....

Well, this whole thread is moot now.... Best Buy had a 19" monitor, made by Mag, for $219 over the weekend with a mail-in rebate of $70. So I went out and grabbed it and now I can play my little demos that need 1024x768 Wheeee!
