What's your strongsuit with Black? I mean what do YOU like playing? Control, reanimator, ZI, ...

Black/Green is fun too, if you are looking for a change.

Also Is this current extended, or after rotation?

I like discard black, as that is what I am used to with my counter/control b/u deck.

Yeesh, monoblack in extended is tough without Dark Ritual. The only one I know of is Reanimator Black.

I suppose an Extended version of Torment Black can work running things like Edict, Vampiric Tutor, Massacre, Perish, etc - but I think it would be slow.

I bet a black artifact Millstone/Echoes deck could possibly work, maybe splash blue for broken Tinker.

Oh yeah, Zombie Infestation is something else in extended with things like Squee and such.

Well, I have this quick little black monster I like, but I don't know if it'd be competetive or not.

I was thinking about a little extended combo that might be able to work in Extended. But I'll need help with a decklist - its a version of Reanimator.

Creatures
3 Laquata's Champion
1 Blinding Angel
X Incarnations/Something that gains you a lot of life/Whatever you want.

Setup
3 Buried Alive
4 Entomb

Recur
3 Living Death
4 Reanimate

The idea is to Buried Alive 3 Champions into your GY, and then cast Living Death - instantly reducing your opponent to 2 life. If you were a good little doobie you should have found a way to also do 2 damage to them - maybe add red for burn.

I suppose you build this with a good amount of Artifact mana, Grim Monolith for the Living Death, maybe Ancient Tombs and/or City of Traitors.

Any more ideas?

Isn't the champion a Legend? It should be.

AT any rate, what about shallow grave?, that'd get you a hit in, or corpse/cauldron dance. That'd need red too though and he was looking mono-black.

Living death might be too slow.

The Champion is unbelievably NOT a legend.

I don't necessarily think Living Death is too slow, b/c this is more of a combo deck than an old-school Living Death Utility deck, so I feel with acceleration (Ancient tomb's and Monoliths) you should be able to cast LD on turn 3 pretty regularly (as long as you can cast Buried Alive on turn 2).

Corpse Dance/Shallow grave wouldn't work b/c the Champion would die at the end of the turn and the opponent would gain their life back. Its got to be done in one swift punch to the face.

I've always liked Suicide Black. It's easy, simple, and doesn't take much to build. Extended hasn't rotated yet. I think that means that Knight of Stromgald is still legal. Then there's the usual Sarcomancies, Unholy Strengths, Nantuko Shades, Carnophages and Dauthi Horrors.

Add a couple of Duresses and Cursed Scrolls and you might have something.

Is Hatred still banned in Extended?

After readin all this, I found out i didnt have enuff black cards needed for the mono, so i spliced blue and built a deck that utilizes twilights call to bounce everything back into play(had to use avatars and colossus') and then trampled them to death basically. It worked, but too slow. So I ditched it, and decided to quit wasting my time, and dug up my old fires deck!
