Yeah, but at least someone's immortalized by it, instead of other decks goofy names like Fish or Parfait or Trix... :)

Fish seems like an okay name to me. Just plain "Merfolk" doesn't sound interesting enough, but calling them Fish still establishes some sense to the name, until a new deck is created that is still called Fish, but doesn't use Merfolk...

Parfait seems like a great name. It DOES mean "perfect" after all, and what deck doesn't want to be perfect?

Trix is a silly name. It came from the rabbit on Illusions of Grandeur. I don't like the cereal and I don't think it's a good name for a deck either, but at least it's named for something that actually has something to do with the deck, rather than some guy I don't know...

Yeah, but just because you don't know him doesn't mean the deck's name has gotta change or is bad. That's like saying street names should be changed because you don't know the person who they were named after or whatever :)

Yeah, but decks are different than streets...

Who would want a deck named after them anyway? Like what happens when you introduce yourself?

"Oh, you're that deck that became obsolete after the Extended rotation."

"Heh, my deck beats YOU every game."

"That's your name? You're a good deck, you know..."

That sort of thing...

I don't think Paul Sligh actually named his deck after himself, it was done by his opponents or friends who faced or used the deck.

"What's that deck you're using?"

"Got it from my friend Paul Sligh. He designed/built it."

Later..

"Yeah, that Sligh deck kicked my rump"

And various... :)

I'd have been ticked off if that happened to me...

No danger in that though. I just have to build decks so terrible that none of my friends will use them...
