That's it so far? No other comments from the other self-professed Type 1 folks out there? Is it because it's tournament news? I thought the U/R Fish deck was interesting since the "most expensive" cards were a single Mox and the Library of Alexandria...

well - I did a lot of type 1 talk in the decks forum, on nightstalkers deck...

As for the ones shown - damping matrix is all you need to stop them...

Wow, U/R Fish is shocking. I can't believe that relative pile of cards dominates Type 1 like it does.

I honestly feel it is dominating because there aren't a lot of "power" decks running in the tourney...

another thing to run in this new T1 meta might be humility...

I didn't see much in the deck lists that could handle it...

I thought Rasko covered all this junk. And Bleiweiss mocked it. Why does WotC think they can do any sort of guide for the format? They're the ones purposely killing it off.

I don't think it's bad to have more than one voice out there for Type 1. rakso just happens to be one of the more long-lasting voices.

if you run humility...you would just break the game. Hmmm...I wonder what would happen if someone did run humility in a major type 1 tourney and create a situation where the game breaks down....What would they do about it?

Why does everyone call it Fish? Fish was already a deck, and there aren't really any similarities except Curiosity and Force of Will, I guess...

Oversoul: You'd have to ask the creators of the deck. Maybe this is the "U/R" Fish while the other was mono-blue Fish, who knows...

hehe...humility breaks the game....even Wizards of the Coast has admitted it in article last year. Too many rulings and explanations and even the current oracle breaks down at certain points. Let me see if i can recreate a situation for it. It might take me awhile but it does break down...

Its called Fish because of a very old "tribal" merfolk deck that was popular in Urza Block Standard or Masques Block Standard. It featured a lot of merfolk and just locked down the opponent with blue control (freezing) and attacked with weenie merfolk (fish, or fish sticks). Thus, the deck was called Frozen Fish(sticks). Frozen Fish is how I remember it refered to as, though.

It was just what the creator named the deck, to have fun. However, it set a precedent that everyone followed like mindless automations, and it was: Anything featuring Merfolk has got to be called Fish. Sort of how like modern Sligh decks are nothing like Mr. Sligh's original deck.

Retarded, but that's the way it is. Because nobody is creative with deck names.

Yes, but the deck they're using in Type I tournaments now and calling "Fish" has (or some builds I've seen at least) ZERO Merfolk.

Ah, zero fish, eh? Well then, I guess the evolution of the archtype kept the name, though having nothing to do with the progenator. Much like Sligh. Sad...

Sligh isn't that great of a name for a deck either...

It should be called "Worse Than Burn" or something like that...

I was joking about the "Worse Than Burn" thing...

It actually isn't, for tournaments, since burn dies to everything after sideboarding...

But Sligh is still not a great name...
