Planeshift will be absoltuely be dubbed "The Powershift" With the cards already seen the set is just great and powerful.

From Sideboard :-

- A land that can pay the upkeep on Stasis forever
- TWO cards that blue mages will fear (one of them will be in blue sideboards!)
- A cantrip Stone Rain
- Worldly Tutor, only better
- Crusade for Goblins, with a mean twist
- A badder Zombie Lord
- The best black creature since Phyrexian Negator

Didn't they say similar things about Invasion? It wasn't that spectacular...

a badder zombie lord = lord of the undead
two cards blue mages will fear = (1) being gainsay
a land that can pay the upkeep on stasis forever = forsaken city

anyone know the others?

I think planeshift is a great set so far, with none of the cards being extremely broken or overpowerful, but with a loft of very playable cards. As for the Sideboard preview, the stasis-combo card is obviously that land that untaps for removing a card in your hand, one of the blue one's is that crappy blue counterspell that counters a blue spell, we already know the zombie lord, and the cantrip Stone Rain will prolly be something like:
3RR
Sorcery
Destroy target land. Draw a card.

As for the other, I dont know./

I wanna see "the best Black creature since Phyrexian Negator", and then I want 4 of'em!

Problem is this: That's hype.

Yes, there's a land that can pay Stasis forever. On the downside, it _stinks_, it's called Forsaken City, and it won't see play outside of Stasis decks. :) I expect the Black creature to be good, but not overpowering. I _am_ looking forward to Blue Hoser #2, though!

...from licenced goblin wholesalers...and that means we're gonna see...

...VIASHINOS!!!!! Wheeeeeeee!

I wanna R/W Haste Viashino /w first strike...would be sooooo good in my deck...

Frosaken city can pay stasis forever! But you can never add to your hand size again! Oh, Wait! That's not GOOD!

I don't want any more blue hosers. My favorite color has been reduced to support....

About that second card that blue players will fear... I would think that they're referring to that little 1/1 elf for 1G that prevents creatures from being countered. I forgot the name, but blue mages will definitely hate that card.

I think 3RR is too much for a cantrip Stone Rain. Perhaps 3R would be more fair. 2RR is a stretch, and it would be very good at 1RR. ;)

Nah, 3RR sounds about right. Look at Dark Banishing and Annihilate. They do the same thing but Annihilate cost 1B more.

Any kind of card drawing will probably add 2 converted mana cost to the card.

This not a witch hunt! Just because a few cards LOOK* powerful, doesn't mean Wiz Co. hasn't learned it's Urza's lesson.
Do you really think any card previewed from Planeshift is really THAT broken? My answer is "NO", Sparky.
So pipe down one and all and let's accept the reality of Planeshift; It's not broken, it's just better than Masques, that's all!

*=Your perception.

...and animals...:)

It is all in the hype...I'm serious! Before each release, WotC gives us "hints" about this and that, and we all get excited (more like a commotion)...then, some of us come out and assume the end of Magic, some will quit (and return), some will tell us to sell our cards because Magic will die...believe me, I've seen all extents of the insane...

If there's one thing I learned from MTGnews message boards, and if there was one person that I'll remember as long as I'm alive, it will be Sleeper Agent...his lessons, I learned all...you shouldn't complain, whine, or even be over exicted...not even "happy" about the set...it all could change when a set is fully unmasked...few cards could look good, and the rest no one would want to get paid to get...some would look bad, and the rest, we'd say "whow!" about...some look as if WotC making a mistake printing, and the rest will be "what the!!!"...

We HAVE to see the FULL set, and PLAY the cards in order to make even an assumed judgement...seriously...

Take the "Stasis upkeep" land from above...what do you think the drawback is? Well...don't stare at me, you know there's a drawback...there's no such thing as "forever", and that land has a drawback...believe me.

With Forsaken City, does that mean that Wizards wants to see the Stasis deck back in play? I cartainly'd like to see it back.

I think they already did that when they printed Rescue, Gush, and Thwart in less than six months.

Yeah. Now, if they'd just reprint Stasis, we'd have a deck going.

Perhaps in 7th?

PJ - It's Gaea's Herald (and yes, the other is Gainsay Aku) I'm afraid I don't have the rest (yet... ;) )

If they are really printing 7th with all-new art, then there's no point in re-doing Stasis.

The art is part of what makes the card so freakin' cool!

Unless they got Fay Jones to reinterpret her own work... that might be nice.

I have to admit I was one of those hecklers that swore that Invasion would be the downfall of all that we havve come to know and love. But as you see, its actually not that bad. So I say ride it out, and if you are right I give you full permission to pummel me to a pulp... Happy?

Just to clear something up: Every pre-Saga card in 7th will have new art. That means Moti, Shivan, Serra, Pillage, and so on will (supposedly) have brand new art.

This is pure speculation, but I have heard several versions of the "Best Black Creature since Phyrexian Negator" Note that none of these are from the same source I got all the remainder of the Planeshift cards from.

Version 1 (possible):

Phyrexian Stalker
B
Creature - Horror; 1/1
Kicker: Sacrifice two permanents.
B: Phyrexian Stalker gains Trample until end of turn.
If you paid the kicker cost, Phyrexian Stalker comes into play with four +1/+1 counters on it.

Version 2 (extremely speculative):

Urborg Nightstalker
1B
Creature - Horror; 7/7
Trample
Whenever Urborg Nightstalker is dealt combat damage, pay 2 life for each damage dealt to it or sacrifice it.
When Urborg Nighstalker leaves play, lose 10 life.

Version 3 (also highly suspect):

Phyrexian Nightrunner
B
Creature - Horror; 4/4
Trample
Phyrexian Nightrunner gets -1/-1 for each basic land types among lands your opponents control.
