Silver Drake
1WU
Creature - Drake
Flying
When Silver Drake comes into play, return a white or blue creature to your hand.
3/3
Common, 125/143, Illus. Alan Pollack

The artwork, including a picture of the ACTUAL card, can be found at:
http://www.dominaria.de/Kontakt/Silver_Drake/silver_drake.html

is that of the drake flying out of some kind of vortex; on the other side there appear to be the hindquarters of some kind of avian (that's a bird folks), which seems to show the returning a different creature to your hand to get the drake.

It also showcases the Planeshift expansion symbol, apparently the same vortex that the drake is leaping out of. Looks to be some kind of interplanar rift between Dominaria and Rath, sort of like reverse fading.

True, but remember that if you have no creatures in play when you play him, he bounces himself.

Still, it's out of Shock/Seal range, and it has evasion. Very nice.

Two notes:

Uno) All the Planeshift art seems to focus on amnimals being transfomed as they shift dimensions...one or two is okay, but SH¡T! Any more and it becomes...how to put it nicely...FRIKKIN' STUPID LOOKING!

( A drake turns into...a drake! Oohhh...interesting. Awe inspiring art, alright. :( )

Ni) That's a common. Wonder how many a$$es the uncommons and rares are going to be kicking...

I dunno. Good but limited. Remember how we acted with recoil? This is less.

True, but Recoil will never kill anyone. This is a good attacker and a good blocker. Compare Boomerang to Phantom Monster.

This thing will rock in limited, assuming you can get your hands on some low-cost sritters for the early game.

It may find its way into a BW Skies variant also.

I like it.

You remember how much trouble Man-o-war caused by bouncing itself? This is the same. Less veratile, more agressive. You cast a cloud sprite, a clouskate, then this.

Ooooh...nasty idea alert.

This guy begs for Jolting Merfolk.

Right, he bounces your faders. I'll play him even without them, though. Hell, after attack phase, anything goes. If you bounce a 1cc, he's 4 for a 3/3 flying and you untap the 1cc. That beats the hell outa stronghold zepplin.

Well... Under the right circumstances...

Re: Drake

Sweet! :) Fat cheap flier! To be honest, I doubt it'll see much play because of it's drawback, but it'll be a bomb in limited!

um, anyone else see the combo with Alluren and Furious Assault?

But this puts it in the three card combo zone, where it becomes *almost* good. I know I'm going to try and build a deck around it.

Actually, one Man-o'War is enough, too.
I don't know what I was thinking.

Anyhow, the Combo with Man-o'War would only require you to play 3 colors: red, green, and blue.
If you really think you can do it with four colors, at least consider adding Man-o'War to your roster.

If you are talking about those kinds of combos, use Shrieking Drake from Visions anyway. It works exactly the same, except that it is one color and cheaper.

Besides, idealistically, it shouldn't matter much how effective a creature is if you are using it for a bounce effect instead of for attacking purposes.

It's still a very good card, but in Extended, there are better combo options.

This thing might work in Replenish though (shudder) - at least in the sideboard.

No, you miss my point. this card is good without a combo. It can return a fading skate. It can bounce a sprite on turn 3....

Now, a question:

Crusade, kavu lair, and this fellow. It bounces itself. Does it become a permanent 1WU: draw a card?
