I just got my left eyebrow pierced. Kinda on a whim...I mean, I'm 23, and I've never gotten anything pierced before. But I like it.

So you all...any piercings? And do you have any strong opinions about them?

I have only the typical left-earlobe piercing.

I disagree that they make a person look stupid. Granted, many people do it just because their friends are doing it, but others do it as an expression of themselves, or for sensual reasons. Much like tattoos, except that you can remove the art, or change it, should you become tired of it. If I could find (and be willing to spend money on) a sanitary and reputable piercer, I'd probably have more than I do now.

I used to have the left ear lobe but eventually just let it grow over as I got tired of it.
I can never really understand why some people get piercings in places like their tongues or eyebrows or anything beyond ears and maybe navel. For some people its just the "look" they want, others do it cause they want to look cool like their latest MTV idol. But they just aren't for me. :\
I've seen some really bad tongue and nose rings/studs though. There was one guy who used to come to my shop all the time and his tongue stud was too long and always clacked against his teeth and made him drool oddly.

I was born with all the holes I need, thanks.

And tongue piercings freak me out. What if somebody just grabbed that thing and TWISTED as hard as they could? OUCH!!

Personally, I think that those done in other places than in the ear are "odd". Sure, it's a form of expression and all, but I rank that up there with "feces art". <shrug>

No piercings for me, thank you. I never really wanted any. I REALLY don't want any after watching someone get their buttcheeks peirced together on JACKASS.

On curiosity, how's the kids you work for liking the new eyes hanging around your eye?

Just hope one of 'em doesn't get mad at you or decides he wants one of the little balls on it...

I saw a guy get his ripped out a few years ago..

Personally, I just think they look stupid.

But for some reason, I know people who love them. One guy at my school pays for each of his new girlfriends to get a double toungring.

I don't know.


I just don't think I need another hole in my head.

I don't think they're horrible. The only reason I don't have any piercings, ears or elsewhere, is because my parents wouldn't let me get them when I was younger and now I'm incredibly pain-intolerant. (I know they say it doesn't hurt, but... I don't wish to find out otherwise.)

Although I can take a lot of pain before it gets to me, I still find that it's a good idea to try and get through life by avoiding be poked by sharp metal things.

I don't have any. I always thought the eyebrow looked kind of cool, but the others are scary. Mainly because looking at them makes me think of something sharp being stuck through me.

My body has the exact right number of holes for a human. I don't really mind piercings on other people, but the concept of having somone poke holes through me is a little worrisome. I find eyebrow and lip piercings unattractive, but that's just me.

Well, the kids I work with are one of the main reasons I started out with a bar instead of a ring. I didn't want it to be too dangerous.

The kids' reactions have ranged from "Tight!" to "You freak!" One of 'em keeps telling me it's gonna get infected. Most of them just seem sort of amazed that it's real and baffled that I would want to get it. Which, come to think of it, is how a lot of people react to it...

I have had many previous piercings, but due to job promotions and the need to look "respectable", I now have only 3 piercings in one ear and one in the other. I have had my eyebrow pierced and I really liked the way it looked and received mostly positive reactions to it. The only piercing I had that people didnt really know how to react to was when I had my septum pierced with a big bull ring looking thing from which a small skull hung. People didnt know how to react to a 6'5" 250 lb shaved head man with a skull dangling from his nose. I cant imagine why.... Also please notice I didnt say scrotum, I said septum, the cartilage between your nostrils... :)
