Hey all.. I usually hate making blue decks unless they're really wierd.. This one has gone through several revisions and went from being a pain in the ass to play--to fun.
I knew there had to be a way to exploit aether type cards, and it works pretty damn good.

Enjoy.

Pendrell Stacks

Creatures
3 Temporal Adept
3 Waterfront Bouncer
2 Ertai, Wizard Adept

Spells
4 Force of Will
2 Capsize
2 Counterspell

Enchantments
4 Mana Breach
3 Pendrell Mists
2 Arcane Laboratory
2 Energy Field
2 Invoke Prejudice
2 Overburden
2 Propaganda
2 Soul Barrier

Artifacts
2 Black Vise
3 Grindstone (or any kill card, i like to switch out rod of ruin for the humiliation factor)

Lands
20 Island

The only change i want to make right now is to add Tabernacle of the Pendrell Vale from Legends.

I've used similar decks in the past. I generally use a full set of Labs and more countermagic.

IMO - If you're going to use labs - then null brooch is a must...;)

You could even run standstills...

Hmm.. standstill might work nicely. Dunno if there's room for the brooch.

Eh, Null Brooch is nice but Ertai is much better with Lab...

We are playing casual right?
I'd only play one (if any) Black Vise; props if you replace them with Viseling..
And if you're going for the Lab-lockdown, you should play with four. I'd drop the Soul Barriers and perhaps even the Pendrell mists...

Four Labs is definitely a good thing. Soul Barrier has an awesome name and picture, but it isn't all that useful...

As for replacing Vise with Viseling, why would you even think that?

Why replace Black Vise with Viseling?

Well..

I have this weird tendancy to downgrade decks. I know Black Vise is a superior card by far and that's why I like to the deck lose it.
First off, I'd never play two, because that just isn't legal anywhere, and probably for a good reason. If you're going to play two, why not play four? And put some moxes in there, get your P9 going!
Furthermore, I am very accustomed to making multiplayer decks, in which a Black Vise really pisses one opponent off, while a viseling is a cute threat to all.
I said I give props for playing with viseling, for in my eyes it is the casual (and funnier) thing to do.

The end.

Yeah, why not? If I had those cards, I know I wouldn't be building a Pendrell Stack deck or anything like that...

Of course, it depends on your playgroup. If all of them are playing the P9 (or have the financial means to acquire them) then go for it.
Compared to my playgroup, i have a larger than average cardpool so i don't really use the real power cards. Keeps the games more equal and interesting.
Furthermore, it's good multiplayer politics. When 5 player chaos always turns into a 4 on 1 (being you) beatdown, you won't be having fun at all, now wil ya?
Besides, when you kill an opponent through two black vises everybody is going to say: "duh" and "It's restricted for a reason", but if you kill someone off with a couple of viselings, you can gloat all you want and people (like me) will have to give you props for your skills.

heh. There's a slight difference between the power nine and a card that cost 2 more from a seemingly bad card in existence. Black vises are good turn 1, late game they aren't really p9 status. The only way they are truly broken is to ritual 3 out turn 1.

Black Vise unrestricted would ruin Vintage, to be sure. But in many casual decks it isn't so dangerous...

If you want the deck to be Vintage legal, then of course only one Vise is allowed. If you want the deck to be Legacy legal, then no Vises at all. It's pretty simple...

Ruin vintage? i dunno about that. No one even usually runs them type 1. It's all time spirals and timetwisters and such.

Black vise is in the same category as engineered plague and grindstone. It's not usually game breaking. This is a moot point anyhow, its casual magic in my perspective.
