Peasant Magic

I read in Inquest or Scrye about the Peasant Magic format and
got to wondering if anyone here has played this type of Magic?

It seems kind of fun but after doing some surfing on the net I
discovered that combo rules this format. Well, rules the format
might be a little strong but combo won a big tournament so I'm
guessing that its the deck to beat.

If you've played in a Peasant tournament or you just have an
opinion about might be good I'd like to hear/read your thoughts
on the subject.

Thanks,
CC

P.S. Now that Legions & Scounge have been released would
anyone be interested in another Tribes Deck-building contest.

Being a part of the Nightstalkers you would think that they would share some of that wealth with their more subtle members of the faction, but no! I gotta spend my own money on everything.

So I get by buying a few packs and building decks from my stash. I currently have around 15 to 17 rares and mainly use commons and uncommons to create whole decks that are stupid and don't work up to most tournament levels.

Sure I like Peasant Magic but i especially like the other kinky formats that are on a magic page (don't remember) which has a treasure trove of gaming ideas. I sure like that fronier magic :D

its a format where you build a deck using all commons and 3 or 4 uncommons I forget the exact number. no rares are allowed.

*Jabs Spidey in the ribs unoticably.*

Woodcloaker/Wirewood guardian (or any big critter)

Its all about the peasant plays and other ideals that make magic fun. My group allow half the deck for uncommons and any stupid rares that you want... Ever played with Tarnished Citadel instead of a city of brass? Well it ain't easy!

Yeah, but ruling the format with that? I mean, that's good if it does but there's got to be other good ones using older cards.

Oh yeah, another Tribe contest would be cool but only a handful of creature types got boosted in this block: Zombies, Soldiers, Birds, Wizards, Clerics, Elves? Beasts? Goblins...

well, maybe that's more than I expected :) No dwarves though :(

Dwarves!!! thats sickening to think that all of those 4 ft tall munchkins would stand a chance in a main role somewhere...

I'd like to see somebody win with dwarves.

The thing is Demonic Tutor is an uncommon and so are a few

So that you know, the Wirewood Channeler / Pemmin's Aura combo WOULD be legal in Peasant.

Now if it'd just show up as an official MTGO format.

I was talking about Capt. Caveman's reference of combos that "rule" or "are to beat" in the format :)

SkyRider: I've pretty much come to the conclusion that a good dwarf deck would have to be mana destruction but haven't had a chance to test it since most of the games I play are MP. Maybe in the Games Run By forum, someone would play me... :)

"So that you know, the Wirewood Channeler / Pemmin's Aura combo WOULD be legal in Peasant."

Right you are but that would be 8 uncommon cards and your only
allowed 5.

I guess, I could go: 3...2 but it would be harder to draw.

The format seems simple enough but its somewhat hard to build
a powerful Peasant Deck(atleast for me)since you can only use
a max of 5 uncommons and no Rares.

I'm just not a good deck-builder..:(

Lame ,,, I know..
