I recall not being online at that moment. What on earth was happening at that second that over half a thousand people decided that they NEEDED to be on at that second?

Yeah, the CPA was hit by some sort of search bug that made lots of unlogged people drop in around that time.

A spiderbot from some web company or another hit the site. Or two.

I believe the most actual users was somewhere around the 300's, when we were taking questions for Doctor Garfield's interview.

Yeah, it's always search bots.

I find it (slightly) amusing when I log on and see "x Viewing" next to ALL of the forums...

Unfortunately, the portal you opened is to a web, but not the web you were looking for, you are quickly ensnared in Shelob's web... so, you "were" king of the portal for a brief while... (Oh wait, this isn't the corrupted wishes thread.... whoops!)
