Opposition

I've been thinking about the different types of Opposition decks
for Type II and would like a little help designing them. Please
list any version of an opposition deck that seems pretty good. I'm
trying to put together a base to templet from.

I've heard of the following:

Orbosition
Oppofishion

This is the beta decklist for the U/G version I've been goldfishing.

4 Birds
4 Elves
3 Mystic Snake(only have three)
4 Opposition
4 Blastoderm
4 Rishadan Airship
3 Spontanous Generation(or Sap. Burst)[only have three]
3 FoF
4 Gush
3 Opt
4 Yavimaya Coast
10 Island
10 Forest

All help would be appericated.

I like Kavu Titan over Blastoderm and some other random blue flier over the Airship. As is, a fast ground-based swarm will murder you.

Other than the cards you suggested does the basic idea look ok?
I'm tring to devolop a templet to work from. I could replace the
Airship with some Skyfolk. I'd still have the problem of being run
over before I can get set up, though. Anavolver might work? It
would be an early blocker and late game flying Phat. I'll proxie
some Volver Wednesday night and see how that goes.

4 Birds
4 Elves
3 Mystic Snake
4 ?????????
4 ?????????

4 Gush
4 Opposition
3 Spontanous Generation
3 FoF
3 Opt

4 Yavimaya Coast
10 Island
10 Forest

May I suggest that you use a few Jungle barriers. They block Blastoderms and they are card advantage as well.

The template looks good, really. It's fast and powerful. I do recommend Static Orb, of course... It really is the best card to work in with Opposition, right?

I thought of Jungle Barriers, but they can't help you win at all...and they're not card advantage, they just replace themselves.
Gaea's Skyfolk, I like. Remember, they CAN block non-flyers.
Anavolver, I don't. Six mana for a 5/5 flyer? Just use Air Elemental, if you're gonna do that.

I question the mana on both of those decks. #1 seems to have an issue with running 6 green mana sources and 4 BoPs, as well as Underground Rivers for nothing in particular. That seems shaky to me, and I would probably drop the Rivers for 3 Forests and an Island.

#2 looks a bit better, but lacks Yavimaya Coast, which is a must-use, I believe. Unfortunately, it has poor synergy with the Gushes, but I think it's worth the cost to gain the additional stability. I still think that Static Orb is a must-have, and I think there's room in there somewhere. With fewer Islands, dropping two Thwarts and the Coat for the Orbs seems like it would be sufficient.

I feel like a merge of those two decks would be the best, since BoPs are a signifigant addition to any two color deck including green - When it's based on Opposition, all the better!

Personally I like Rishadan Airship, I`d probably not play 4, but it`s certainly the beatstick you`ll be needing.

I don`t understand why you would put Static Orb into the deck. The best version wit Orbs is the mono-blue deck, using green for Spontaneous Generation means you want mana elves and are trying to get enough creatures to tap everything down anyway so you`d not want Static Orb.

Personally i`m not a big fan of either build. Use too many slots on random spells you don`t want, like FoF or Opt, not enough on cards you do, like Counterspell or Thwart.

Also - 24 land???? I thought the whole point of running Opt was to use like 19-20 land, and that was even before you put elves and birds in. I'd make it mono, or take a lesson from the GU tempo-assault decks from IBC and just play that with Oppositions in.

Well............

I kind of thought the Orb would insure the lock with Opposition
in play. Without an Opposition then it really hurts the deck.
Someone else pointed that out to me yesterday and it makes
a lot of sense. Both of you are probably right.

24 land is probably to much. I've been thinking about that myself.
I was following the 36/24 rule. I could probably get away with
less land considering the creature mana and Opt's.

Your mono Blue Orbosition deck is probably better:...................

I just liked the idea of building a U/G version. My biggest worry
is when something slips past a counter and I can't tap it or
something effects me while its in play(random permenant) The
best version will escape me until someone post it. Until then I'm
looking for suggestions and opinions, like yours, to make it
better.

Splash black? Recoil for bounce/removal, Dark Banishing for removal (and to make sure you have less targets to Opposition)?
