non U/W spells against enchantments

Are there any red spells to defend against enchantments? I know there are things like overload and shatter to destroy artifacts. But what about enchantments?

I tend to play red, black and green a lot so I'm trying to defend myself against enchantments. Green has creeping mold and desert twister (any others?) Black... hmm good questions. Can't think of any off hand that deal with artifacts or enchantments.

Any ideas?

Well, there is tranquilty for green. It destroys ALL enchaments. As for black & red, I have no clue.

Red and Black are pretty much defenseless against enchantments. That's why most of the old decks used Nev's Disk.

Bummer :( Ah well, guess that gives me a reason to play em with the other colors. I had a g/r deck that was doing great til my opponent pulled out a well of life and I realized I hadn't put any destroy artifacts in my deck. OOPS  So I added the creeping molds and shatter/overload. But got to thinking what happens if they use and enchantment instead.

*sigh* If only buyback was back. Then, destroy artifact wouldn't be a problem.

Good anti-enchantment green card in Type 2: Tranquil Grove.

Tranquil Grove 1G
Enchantment
1GG (or is it 2G?): Destroy all other enchantments.

Very helpful, and in 6th Edition.

Black has never been able to do squat about enchantment, at least directly. Gate to Phyrexia and some spell in Mirage enabled Black to destroy Artifacts, although at a high cost - something like sacrificing 2 creatures for each Artifact.

Red is all about busting up Artifacts, but is very limited in what it can do about Enchantments. Pyroblast and Red Elemental Blast can destroy Blue Enchantments, and Anarchy can wipe out White Enchantments, but other than that, Red is screwed.

None the cards for either color exist in Standard, so I guess WotC just doesn't want Red or Black to have any defense against Enchantments. This is why hardly anyone plays Mono-red in Standard - there are too many cards that Red just auto-loses to. COP:Red, Story Circle, etc. Yes, Mage's contest can help, but I have yet to see anyone even try it in a tournament.

I've tried Mage's contest and it's fantastic... if you're playing a fast deck. If not, then put in more LD. That's Red's only hope against CoP and such. I guess you could count Ancient Kavu as well...

As for poor old Black, well it's snipe it away or lose to it. If you can't force them to discard their CoP or Story Circle, (or the worst of all-Light of Day; what were they thinking??????) then you concede. Good game. Whee.

R/B will never be viable in Type 2 for that reason. They simply lose to U/W control or anything else with enchantments of almost any kind.

Exception to the rule: good old burn. If your creatures can't get through, then you must aim every last spell you have at their throat. Non-stop, just fire away. You have no other chance as well.
