What was Ironic last time was that Turgy22 was the one person that I KNEW was not a wolf (start up email). Then he chose me as his daddy....really wierd that twist of events...

Sorry for the delay. I haven't been on the last couple of days. Trying to get a program put together and it's fairly time-sensitive, so it's been heads-down.

Spidey is out next week, so I'll start assigning roles the middle of next week and we can get officially started after that.

Since, I believe, we have a new player, could you list the rules and player interactions (like how the seer works and if there are links, silver bullets, etc.)
This would put everyone on even footing.
How the seer thing works wouldn't be bad, are they just investigators or do they get visions.
I was a little stunned that there was a vision-link between a non-seer and another villager. Maybe, I missed that in the set up.
Also, the silver bullet was sort of out of the blue in the one game.

Homestar,

Don't worry about it. I'm sure you can join. I played last time having no idea what I was doing and it was a blast.

No problem Homestar. If you've seen the previous threads, you'll understand that it's really "the more, the merrier".

For those who aren't as familiar with the game, here's how it works. Sometime next week, I will email each person their role in the game. Then, I will create a new thread with setting information. The setting is just for flavor.

The three basic roles in the game are:

Werewolf - there are 2 werewolves and it is basically everyone versus them. They have the advantage of knowing who each other are.

Seer - there is 1 seer. He gets a bit of inside information each day he manages to stay alive. No one knows who the seer is except the seer themself. They can reveal themself if they like and give the information they have gathered. However, they need to be careful to wait as long as possible since werewolves can't resist killing the seer as quickly as possible.

Villager - This is everyone else.

The game is played in a series of "days" and "nights". Each night, two things happen.
1. The werewolves hunt someone
2. The seer spies on someone.

Whoever the werewolves hunt is eliminated and can no longer post or participate in votes. We are going to try something where eliminated players can still participate in a "Ghost Counsil", but that's not a standard part of the game, just something we are going to try.

The seer also gets to find out about the person they "spy" on. Basically, the moderator (me) will tell them if that person is a werewolf, or if they are a villager.

Then comes the day, were all the real action takes place. Based on what happened during the night, as well as comments that people make, everyone starts throwing out suspicions of who they think is a werewolf and why. A specific time is given in which everyone must vote for who they believe is a werewolf. Whoever receives the most votes is hanged as a wolf. Hopefully, they really are a wolf. Otherwise, everyone feels really badly about it :D

That's basically it. The villagers win if they manage to hang both werewolves (all the villagers win, even those that were eliminated). The werewolves win if they manage to kill off all of the villagers (basically, if there are as mana werewolves as villagers, they win).

In addition, we like to throw in a twist or two. Mooseman - I never told everyone specifically about the non-seer link. I did mention that there was a minor twist (that turned out to be major) that involved one player and they were given all the details up front.

I have plans for a similar (but slightly different) twist this time. I can't give away the details because it might affect how it plays out. However, it will be similar in that the person it affects will have the oportunity to gain additional information if certain circumstances happen. The exact details will be explained completely prior to the game, but only to the person or people affected.

We are also going to try a "ghost counsil". The Ghost Counsil is the opportunity for "dead" players to still participate. My current thinking is that Ghosts will be allowed to PM each other, but will have no way of communicating with living players. The most recently deceased villager (killed by the wolves) will be the "voice" of the counsil and will PM me, if necessary, with a tie-breaking vote. They will only get to vote in the case of a tie. However, since the seer might be on the counsil, I suspect that the villagers might go out of their way to cause ties. We'll see...

Also - concerning the seer. It typically is just flavor that determines how he finds out the information. Last game, it was "visions". The game before that, he actively went out to investigate the people. For this game, I'm going to stick with visions. Either way, there will not be a silver bullet this game, so it shouldn't really matter. For those who don't know what I'm referring to, there was one game where one player had a silver bullet that he could use if someone came snooping around. However, they didn't know if that person was the werewolf or the seer until after they shot.

That pretty much sums it up. You can also check out previous games to get a better idea how it works. Feel free to ask any additional questions also.

I'm not sure if I'm the only one or you didn't send them out yet, but I didn't get my role last week.

I didn't receive anything either, so I assumed EricBess is just busy or something (he didn't respond to my PM)

That might be true.. but then, you could very well be a wolf who is already using sly tricks to make us think he is a villager  !
