New format idea: Circle of Death

You can only attack the person to your right. Once that person is dead, you go to the person to the right of him. The last man standing wins. Any thoughts?

Play it every now and then with the local group... except we do it as spells work the same way...;)

This is just melee, except you're attacking right instead of left. This play format as probably been around since Alpha. It's a good one to try though, but I think it eliminates too many of the diplomatic elements that make multiplayer games fun.

Well right and left is all the same, I just hadn't heard of it before. I guess I was preceeded by many a person though. Still, its a fun format.

It is fun... And you can normally decide how you want to live/die, by where you sit...;)

"I tend to sit out of the Blue MAge's way... I wouldn't want to kill anyone and it not be part of the game..."

:p

And I've don't some Grand Melee variant also use a point system? Like you geta point for eliminating someone else, and two extra points if you're the last remaining player or something similar...

Grand Melee is fun, but it works best when money is on the line, and since most players don't want to throw money down on a casual game....

Grand Melee is like poker, you can play it without betting, but it's kind of stupid. With money you just split the pot between the last man standing and the player who eliminated the most other players. What this does is encourage people to build deadly, aggressive decks that can survive the long haul, (because they want to get both halves of the pool), which in turn makes the game incredibly interesting because people are building fun combo-aggro-control decks so they can cover all their bases.

I once proposed a variant like this. Except, you could attack only the player to your left, but you could urinate on anybody at the table. After a few demonstrations, my group vowed never to try this format again. The comic books suffered irreparable mental trauma, as well, so I was banned from the store for a while.

Then I was reading the internet and found out people do this thing all the time in Los Angeles and Germany, and get paid for doing this on camera!!! Except, they just leave out the cards.

I moved to New Mexico, actually. And I wouldn't be interested in doing that as a career, and to ladies either. When I did it, it was like "You're attack me?!? You really gonna do that? Well, here, I'll attack you back! Have protection from yellow? Good!"

Yeah...not a good idea when I look back on it. Then again, how could anybody know without hindsight?
