MANA:
9x Plains
11x Island
3x Coastal Tower
1x Kor Haven

CREATURES:
2x Cho-Manno, Revolutionary
2x Mageta, the Lion
2x Devout Witness
3x Sliptide Serpent

SPELLS:

Card Drawers:
4x Inspiration
2x Gush

Countermagic:
3x Power Sink
4x Counterspell
3x Absorb

CreatureKill:
4x Wrath of God
2x Rout
3x Story Circle
3x Shackles

SIDEBOARD:
3x Galina's Knight (lots of R/B in my area)
3x Light of Day (no, I mean LOTS of R/B)
3x Dismantling Blow (for those times when Devout Witness isn't enough *coughcoughchimericidolcough*)
3x Mana Short (early in the game, it's a Time Walk)
3x Chill (did I mention there was lots of R/B in my area?)

(NOTE: I *really* hope the Mana Shorts and Chills I traded for arrive tomorrow. Otherwise, I'm gonna have to try to get them at the tournament, and that could suck. I'm also going to try to trade for a fourth Coastal Tower to go in place of an Island.)

Well...wish me luck! I'll let you know how I do.

First of all, good luck for the tournament.

Now, I do question a couple deck choices you've made.

One, Inspiration over Fact or Fiction. Nah, play FoF.

Two, Sliptide Serpent. I've never played with it, but it just seems ineffiecent. Maybe there's a better choice.

Quicksilver Wall? It's faster, but I don't like it.

hmm...

With the tournament, that is...

I have to agree ... why Inspiration? FoF is much better ... but to each his own, I guess.

Gush. Hmmm. Errrr. I'd rather run Mystical Tutors here ... could help you look for FoF, any counterspell, assorted Wraths ... ;)

You've dropped the Samite Crossbowman? In favor of Quickie Walls? It's a tad bit better than Stinging Barrier ... but not by much.

I still say it's better to run with Blinding Angels, but you've already exhaustively defended the Sliptide in the previous post, Isty dearie. Sliptide it is.

Maybe you could try for a Teferi's Moat in favor of one Story Circle? Less mana-intensive. Then again, you have no fliers ... so Circle might be better in the deck.

On a side-note ... there's a LOT of R/B over there in your area?! Wow. I'm the only gal with a R/B in mah playing area ... in fact, I'm the only player around mah area with a T-2 Deadguy variant. <laughs> It's amusing to beat the tarhooties out of some rich kid with a whole lotta rares in his deck with a common/uncommon deck. ;)

Any ways... G'luck with the tourney!

Happy Magicking! :D

Sliptide Serpent. Of course, that's the type of creature I've looking for, there are times when I need to Wrath but my Air Elemental is out or one of my only two other creatures is in play, arrrrrgh!
Isty, I'm going to try it.

Why play Inspiration over Fact or Fiction?
I thought about it for a while. In MOST decks, Fact or Fiction is better. But if I need an answer (read: Wrath), my opponent can put it in its own pile, and force me to take one card for four mana. That's not good. They also get to see what I take, making countermagic a lot more dicey. With Inspiration, it costs the same amount of mana, but:
1) I get two cards regardless.
2) My opponent doesn't see what I get.
3) Nothing goes to my graveyard but the Inspiration.

I kinda like that.

Mystical Tutor is nice, but I'd rather have a card that nets me multiple cards at a shot.

Where did you see Quicksilver Wall? It's not in the decklist anywhere.

Yellowjacket - Heh. I labored over that one for some time.

rkoelsch - Me too...I'll know in an hour or two.

Poop. Mail's here, and no Chills or Mana Shorts.
Guess I'll have to try to get them at the tournament.

I prefer gush to inspiration. Why?

Pros:
-Can return islands in case of geddon/waters
-Provides foil fodder
-Can be cast for free after tapping out to draw a solution (I tap two blue, gush, counterspell)

Cons:
1 mana more.....

Okay?

Well, I got my @ss handed to me.

Match 1:

My worst match-up: Mirror Match. Except he's playing Millstones...I can't push past his countermagic. We both get Story Circles out against each other, but I can't nuke his Millstone effectively. He decks me both times.

Match 2:

I don't even remember...but I DO remember that I got mana-screwed both times. Time to re-examine my mana development.

Dropped shortly afterwards.

How I'm going to adjust my deck:

One Chill and one Light of Day come out of my sideboard to make room for two Disrupting Scepters. They should win me a mirror match.

Going to find room for one more Plains and one more Island.

You're playing blue. There's no need to find room for one more plain or island. Put in 2 Opt instead. Trust me. It works. ;)

Adarkar Wastes. I know it sucks due to the pain, but it helps smooth out the mana supply. "The Stick", great choice!

was the manascrew not the right color of mana or not enough? If not enough the wastes won't really help.

Not enough mana. In one situation, I needed a Wrath, and I needed a land. I scooped. If I drew the land, I didn't Wrath, and died. If I drew the Wrath, I couldn't cast it, and died.
