My Set

    To many cards, I guess.

    Please let me know if these are ok or if I need to work on them.


    Blue
    Scroll Carrier
    U, Creature-Carrier 1/1, Common
    When Scroll Carrier comes into play from your hand, target player draws a card


    Glyph of Denial
    1UU, Instant, Common
    Counter target spell. At the beginning of your upkeep if Glyph of Denial is in your graveyard
    you may remove it from the game to draw a card.


    Counsel of Scholars
    2UU, Sorcery, Rare
    Reveal the top 3 cards of your library to each player. Put 2 of those cards into your
    graveyard. Remove the remaining card from the game. Then draw an amount of cards,
    equal to the removed cards casting cost.


    Ethereal Wave
    4UU, Sorcery, Rare
    Each player shuffles all non-basic land permanents into there owners library.


    Shoreline Guildhouse
    3UU, Enchant Land, Rare
    3: Counter target spell unless that spells caster pays 1 for each wizard you control.
    Sacrifice Shoreline Guildhouse: Counter target spell.


    Fame and Fortune
    1U, Sorcery, Uncommon
    Draw a card. If you control a Legend or Legendary permanent draw 3 cards instead.

    I don't know, perhaps you should join forces with the fellows trying to make that other casual set (FoR, Duster, and some others).

    I've given that a lot of thought but they already have enough
    cards to complete that set. I'm just messing around anyway.

    I would like to see WoTc put out a set for US(the casual player)
    They could make a whole block of non-tournament legal cards
    for us. They tryed to give us some stuff but Unglued is kind of
    wacky. IBC is pretty good but I'll still like to see a set where T2
    didn't matter.

    This is my attempt at such a set. Multi-player and casual 1 on 1.
    Maybe one day I will complete it. A Stand Alone and two small
    expansions.(330 + 150 + 150.)

    Maybe it just wouldn't sale. Unglued an Portal bombed so this
    could too.

    Just out of curiosity............

    If anyone reads this thread please reply to say whether or not
    you would buy a non-tournament legal set that was focused on
    casual and multi-player. I'm sure it would depend on whats in it
    but would you waste you hard earned cash on it?

    I'm not sure... right now I don't really play multi regularly (or casual single, for that matter). If I was, I guess so... depending on he playability of the cards :)

    Less cards! The better to process with!

    The only thing that jumps out at me is that Scroll Carrier is basically the same as Pyknite, except the latter costs 2 more colorless. I assume there's a reason for that (besides that it's green, although green has a history of drawing cards), so I'm thinking yours would have to be bumped up too. Or at least by one colorless.

    Good point a bout the Carrier's I'll make them 1/2 for 2 colorless
    and one of what ever color it is.

    Search your library for a card and remove it from the game. Then shuffle your library.
    At the end of your turn put the removed card into your hand..

    Counsel of Witches
    2BB, Sorcery, Rare

    Plague Carrier
    2B, Creature-Carrier 1/2, Common
    When Plague Carrier comes into play from your hand, put a -1-1
    counter on target creature.

    Bone Collector
    3BB, Creature-Fiend 0/1, Rare
    Flying
    When Bone Collector comes into play, search target players graveyard for any
    number of creatures cards and remove them from the game. Then put a +1+1 ???
    counter on Bone Collector for each creature card removed in this way.

    Lynch
    1B, Instant, Common
    Tap any number of untapped creatures you control: Target creature gets a -1-1
    for each creature you tapped.

    3, Sacrifice Tome of the Ancients, Discard your hand: Draw 3 cards.

    Memory Stone
    3, Artifact, Rare
    Whenever you successfully cast a spell you may pay 3. If you do, search your
    library for a copy of that card and put it into your hand. Then shuffle your library.

    Feldspar Stone
    3, Artifact, Rare
    Tap, remove Feldspar Stone from the game: Add 3 mana of any one color to
    your mana pool.

    Wooden Steed
    3, Artifact Creature-Giant Soldier 0/4, Uncommon
    When Wooden Steed is put into your graveyard from play, you may pay 2 and
    remove it from the game. If you do, put four 1/1 colorless soldier tokens into play.

    Golden Circlet
    3, Artifact, Uncommon
    3: Target creature cannot attack you. Play this ability before an opponents
    declare attackers step.

    Living Cenotaph
    3, Artifact, Uncommon
    3: Until end of turn, Living Cenotaph becomes an artifact creature with power
    and toughness each equal to the number of creature cards in target opponents
    graveyard.

    Scroll Carrier
    Blue is supposed to be inefficient at small creatures, and besides this, this card rocks in any color. I would suggest a 1/1 for UU. Changing it too 1U and 1/2 doesent really solve the problem.

    Glyph of Denial
    Pretty good, comparable to Dismiss. I would make it remove a second blue card from the game to get a card. I suggest this for two reasons: this is just better than Dismiss, and the 3-mana counterspell slot is quite needed, so you dont have to worry about it not seeing play if its not incredibly good.

    Counsel of Scholars
    Suprisingly, I think this card is pretty balanced. If it was an instant, it would be waaay to good.

    Ethereal Wave
    Looks balanced to me, comparable to Upheavel, but only distantly.

    Shoreline Guildhouse
    This looks fine to me, they can always disenchant as a response.

    Fame and Fortune
    This could even be cc'ed at U. I LOVE this card!

    Witches' Lore
    At 1B I think this is too good compared to Vamp Tutor. I would suggest making it 2B, but then its way to much like Diablolic Tutor....which is the reason I dont like this card.

    Counsel of Witches
    This can cost 3B, but probablly 2B or even 1B. Theres no "may" in the text, so you have to match its criteria exactly.

    Nefarious Witch
    Looks good to me. I saw on the new Wizards site that Fear might soon get an official name.

    Giant Skelton
    It looks fine to me, but people could argue it needs to be 2BB, since its obviouslly better than Hill Giant/Tor Giant/Etc.

    Archfiend
    This is fine.

    ???, Lord of Darkness
    Dengerous to print this, espically in black...all that reanimation.

    Plague Carrier
    Looks fine to me, but is the name taken?

    Bone Collector
    This looks fine. A good combo with some of the green cards that let you mill creatures out of your oppenetns library from Subterfuge.

    Lynch
    Looks fine, but should be reworded to:
    "When Lynch comes into play, tap any number of creatures you control. Target creature gets -1/-1 for each creature tapped this way"

    Tome of the Ancients
    Looks good.

    Memory Stone
    This card seems very similar.....anyway, I think it's pretty good.

    Feldspar Stone
    Looks good; the remove from the game clause is cruicial.

    Wooden Steed
    This version looks pretty good....you've tweaked this guy alot, havent you?

    Golden Circlet
    This reminds me of a white enchantment from tempest that did nearly the same thing. As I recal, it was cc'ed at 1, so I think this is nicely balanced.

    Living Cenotaph
    You could probablly lower the cc to 2.

    Thanks for the review.

    I think that each of the carrier's will have to be cc'ed different.
    Your suggestion about making the Blue one cost UU seems
    about right. I agreed with Spiderman's position but now I'm not
    sure what it should be. My intent was to have a 1/1 in each
    color that has a useful ability.

    My orginal wording for Glyph of Denial made the player tap a
    non-land permanet and remove the card during the players
    upkeep but I thought that might be to restrictive. Does that
    sound better or is it to much?

    I also love Fame and Fortune. I'm trying to make a mini-cycle of
    cards like that one:

    Praise and Worship
    Loathe and Hate

    I'm still trying to figure out what each one should say.

    I thing Witches Lore is pretty strong but since you don't get the
    card right then maybe it ok. I'm trying to give each color a
    balanced tutor. Maybe that's not possible! How about this for a
    fix?

    Witches' Lore

    Search your library for a black card, reaveal that card to each player and remove it from the
    game. Then shuffle your library. At the end of your turn put the removed card into your hand..


    I wanted all of the counsel of (whatever) cards to cost the same.
    I worded the black one so that you have to destroy that many
    creatures but the non-black clause helps them get around it. All
    of the Counsel cards are dependant on luck and how well you
    play. Well, atleast I think so. That's my goal. However, at 3B, its
    probably ok too. Maybe I should change all the Counsel cards to
    3+(whatever color)so they can be splashed a little easier.

    I kind of thought black needed something comparible the MoR.

    I'm still working on this guy. His ability is pretty strong. I wanted
    a good Black legend but he's probably unbalaced, like you pointed
    out.

    Bone Collector:
    If you have room for him in your set and you want to throw it in
    that would be ok with me.


    Wooden Steed:
    I must have posted ten different versions of this card. This is the
    final one. Good or bad, I'm done with it......

    Which card are you refering to? I can't think of it.

    Whenever Marauders of ??? deals combat damage to an opponent you may pay 1BR .
    If you do, destroy target land that player controls.

    Nexia, the Half-Dragon

    1UR: Nexia deals 1 damage to target creature or player.

    When Ra-Kan, the Half-Giant blocks or becomes blocked it gains +1+1 until end of turn.

    Two-Headed Troll
    2RG, Creature-Troll 3/4, Rare
    G: Regenerate
    Two-Headed Troll may block two creatures each combat.

    Slayig, the Impaler
    2GWB, Creature-Beast Legend 3/4, Rare
    Tap: Destroy target creature with power no greater than the number of forest you control.

    UU for the Scroll Carrier sounds fine. All I was really trying to say was that it was undercosted in its printed form :) FoR has more experience than me doing this, so that or 2 colorless probably work out to being near-equal anyways.
