I don't rightly use blue anymore, but I can tell ya to use some of thems new cycling lands if you seem to get too many islands later/early in the matches.

Compulsion... - get rid of anything you draw that you don't need...

Disrupt(?) - nothing like 1 casting cost countering and drawing...

Cunning Wishes - you need into the sideboard - especially first game... it usually means the win...

Also - in type 1 - mind's desire might not be bad...

Another thing to stop type 1 decks - Arcane Laboratory!!!...

I have a single Lab somewhere, but most of those names don't ring a bell. I've been out for two years...I don't even know the set names between Odessy and Mirrodin...so anything new I don't know nor have. : /

Compulsion: In T1, I figured if I draw cards I don't need, they must either be out of the deck, or be cards I need later, in which case I'll draw a card I need now instead of Compulsion.

I might look into Disrupt...which slots would they take up?

Mind's Desire seems strong...though it's basicaly the same effect as Will though Will doesn't remove cards I chose not to use (though that doesn't really matter to them) and doesn't risk milling me for no use...such as a fistfull of land. I'd rather they be in hand to buyback Forbid, and counterspells revealed this way are mostly duds, too, if my opponent doesn't have interference that turn. But he will know I'm shorter on counterspells than I would've been otherwise.

Also, if I play enough spells to Storm it up proper, I'll be hard pressed for the 4UU to get it off...potentially opening a window for counter or not being able to counter next turn. It's very much playable, but I don't know if it fits in this build. Anyone have more to say about it that I've overlooked?

Cunning Wish
Instant 2U
Choose an instant card you own from outside the game, reveal that card, and put it into your hand. Remove Cunning Wish from the game.
Rare - Judgement.

Jayemdae tome might be more efficient that Whispers...

Wash Out also would do a bit more than Snap... snaps free - but wash out returns someone's entire deck... for only 2 more mana...

As for the mass artifacts hitting you in type 1...

Energy Flux - 2U - Enchantment...
All artifacts have "At the beginning of your upkeep, sacrifice this artifact unless you pay 2."

I'll see what else I can find...

For the other deck...

i can get you another rancor...

How about Overruns...

:: Jayemdae tome might be more efficient that Whispers...
It's considerable, however, I can't pitch it to Force, and I can't repeat it with Will. With three put into Will, I can afford to either repeat cheap spells, or recall one bomb. Whispers is nicer in the former case.
:: {Oh, Snap!}
I looked at Washout, and it's nice...but I have none. Following the Will, Snap again conserves mana, which is a good thing.

:: As for the mass artifacts hitting you in type 1...
I'm not sure about that...it's a college club, so the field is very wide...there could be a lot of strong T1 stuff, or I could be the only guy with a Morphling. I haven't seen much of the player's decks...but I'm more afraid of goblin or elf swarms than T1's usual madness. ...yeah, I need Wash Out...

:: i can get you another rancor...
I'm sure there's one somewhere locally...but it'll likely be hard to pry out of someone's paws. It would likely help...With the Hero in play, I can kill opponent's critters with it. ^^
:: How about Overruns...
I hadn't though of it...I don't usually have more than two or three critters out at once, since I can't afford to overextend, eat WoG, and be clogged with a fistfull of Enchantment and nobody to suit up and roll with. ...and with Rancor and Cloak, the Trample is redundant.

First off, is it a good idea to splash black? It opens your mana base up to wasteland attack, and blood moons. You aren't running any black disruption, and what are you looking to cast off the will?

Red has been a standard splash for in mono-blue for a while now, and has the capability to add extra suppourt against creature decks. Also Fire/Ice can be useful against a variety of decks, and Pyroclasm offers cheap creature kill.

• Mana Sources
22 Island
4 Underground Sea
R Strip Mine
R Sol Ring

Alright, you may want to think about adding Mishra's Factories, and Maze of Ith to deal with creature threats

• Creatures
3 Morphling
Could probably be down to two, but it's up to you. Also Masticore is deadly against hordes.

• Bounce
2 Snap delaying them a turn doesn't do that much
4 Capsize 1-2 of these are needed that's all
• No
4 Counterspell
4 Forbid
4 Force of Will
Mana Leak?

• Draw
2 Whispers of the Muse - I like ophidian in this slot, and for there to be four
2 Impulse - These ar
R Stroke of Genius
R Fact or Fiction
R Ancestral Recall
R Gush Do you really want to lose all that tempo?
R Demonic Tutor
• Extra Lives
R Nevinyrral's Disk Since when was this restricted, also powder keg may be better at not killing your morphlings
R Yawgmoth's Will

If you want real help check out www.themanadrain.com, I would only post after you know your metagame, because it's hard to give solid advice otherwise.

For reference this is my casual mono-blue list:

Creatures
1 Masticore
2 Morphling
4 Ophidian

Spells
4 Counterspell
4 Force of Will
4 Mana Leak
2 Misdirection
4 Powder Keg
2 Forbid
1 Sol Ring
4 Impulse
4 Brainstorm

Lands
16 Island
4 Mishra's Factory
1 Strip Mine
2 Quicksand
1 Maze of Ith

As you can see it's a pretty standard mono-blue, but I'm still testing it out different stuff to play against my group.

I didn't want to sound harsh, your decklist is pretty good, I have a tendency to suggest exactly what I would play. So just go out and have fun, from the sounds of it it's not overly competitive.

I tried it out and got smashed last night so I did some stuff to it...now, to do more.

:: Alright, you may want to think about adding Mishra's Factories, and Maze of Ith to deal with creature threats
I put Factories in, along with Propaganda, which marginally increases stock in Mana Leaks.

:: Morphling Could probably be down to two, but it's up to you. Also Masticore is deadly against hordes.
I have no Morphlings...but I wouldn't mind opening the slot for something that wins.

:: Snap delaying them a turn doesn't do that much Capsize 1-2 of these are needed that's all
I cut the Snaps for Leak, as well as one Capsize. I do feel more comfortable with three than I would with two, though with the second disk* I might not want it as badly.

:: Mana Leak?
I flip through my box, see seven of them, and hate myself for being a dummy.

:: Whispers of the Muse - I like ophidian in this slot, and for there to be four
I only have three... : /
:: Impulse - These ar
...ar what?!

:: Gush Do you really want to lose all that tempo?
Likely, no. I'd had it around before I got my Recall and never nixed it. Until last night.

:: Nevinyrral's Disk Since when was this restricted
I heard that a while ago...god I hate misinformation. Now I have to apollogize for my erring assumption, too. * prints list, pastes to box. Dammit. *

:: powder keg may be better at not killing your morphlings
Well, I don't have one of those. I did get that Mirrodin Doom-Stone thinger, though.

:: I didn't want to sound harsh,
You can't sound anymore harsh than the sound of my life total plummiting as I get ground into the pavement by other decks. Even the green ones.

:: from the sounds of it it's not overly competitive.
Well, we've got the Elf player, the Sliver player, the Goblins player, the Evil White Just Give Up player, the four-Mox-Diamond/four-Frantic-Search player...

...and me. The guy who dies.

Okay, decklist as it sits on my table...

17 Island
4 Mishra's Factory
4 Underground Sea
R Strip Mine
(I do have two Maze in my box, and can get Volc Islands if you have red cards to suggest with/inplaceof black)
3 Morphling - or 2...
3 Capsize
4 Mana leak
4 Counterspell
4 Force of Will
3 Forbid
2 Impulse
R Fact or Fiction
R Stroke of Genius
R Ancestral Recall
R Demonic Tutor
4 Propaganda
2 Nev's Disk
R Yawgmoth's Will

As for deck two, I put black in it, so it's now officially weirded out.

suggesting red - steam blasts, earthquakes, fire/ice, fanning the flames... there's tons to throw in that could help with creature control in red...

Mana Leak is very weak in the late-game. It has the very real ability to be a dead card. If you must use a mana drainer, consider the usage of Miscalculation, so that you can cycle it when it sucks.

I would also lose the Impulses (I know, I know) in favor of two more Nev's Disks. Your chief worry with this deck is an opponent that manages to get threats on the table before you can get your No online.

Finally, remove your Strip Mine and two Underground Seas and three Islands in favor of three Swamps and three Thawing Glaciers. Your three swamps should be all you ever need to cast your black spells, even with Yawgmoth's Win, and the Glaciers are crazy-good to not only get guaranteed mana, but thin your deck out. The worst thing this deck can do is draw a land when it needs something else.

Oh, I almost forgot. Consider investing in Back to Basics and Energy Field. When I ran my mono-blue, Back to Basics could drastically reduce the amount of No I needed, since my opponents often wouldn't get to untap their lands...and there's nothing more satisfying than laying down an Energy Field on turn 2 and just hiding behind it until you can find a Disk and blow up the world.

I've gone Blue/Red. BTW

:: Mana Leak is very weak in the late-game. It has the very real ability to be a dead card.

I've thought about Miscalc, but I do like the third mana, since it keeps them from sneaking something stupid for (1) after I use it, and it's effortlessly pitched to Force of Will or Forbid if it becomes sub-optimal.

:: I would also lose the Impulses (I know, I know)
Heh, they're on the chopping block already.
:: in favor of two more Nev's Disks.
...well, I have a gold bordered one somewhere I got in a pack of random cards that they give away with purchases at the card shop...

Glaciers would be yummy, but my box is bare...should I run Red and Black, as four Volcanos and Seas, perhaps? That'd keep Will and Tutor in, which might be better than not having them.
