Multiplayer discard

I waz driving from PA to CT the other day and with plenty of time to kill I thought about how cool Opression (1BB enchantment - whenever a player plays a spell he discards a card) could be cool with ensnaring bridge.

Now the problem is how to kill the opp.
the rack, the rackling, wheel of torture ?

What about still being able to attack. But for this you need to have cards in hand.

Ok here is the beginning of a deck idea (remeber it is geared toward MP) :

4 Dark ritual
4 opression
4 ensnaring bridge
4 megrim

4 hippy
4 ravenous rats
4 Duress
4 hymn to tourach

4 howling mine (to make sure I can attack with the hippy - then play with empty hand ... and that they have something to discard)
2 Vampiric tutors
2 nev disks

Lands :
1 Wastelands
1 strip mine
2 quicksand
4 "legacy land that becomes a creature"
12 Swamps

Think Frozen Shade. Arguably the worst shade, and one of the worst creatures to ever see print. Nevertheless, as it is power zero and flexible, as well as in color, it is an excellent way around Ensnaring Bridge.

Consider Using Thran Weaponry to power up their creatures so that those creatures can't attack you. Well, actually don't do that unless you think of a good way to do it.

If you have no compunctions about playing older cards add Nettling Imp, for the Targetable Slaughterfest that he can do with an Ensnaring Bridge in Play.

Think: Mass Discard

Unnerve
3B
Sorcery
Uncommon
Each of your opponents chooses and discards 2 cards.

Memory Jar
5
Artifact
Rare
T,Sacrifice Memory Jar: Each player sets aside his or her hand, face down, and draws seven cards. At end of turn, each player discards his or her hand and returns to his or her hand each card he or she set aside this way.

Windfall
2U
Sorcery
Uncommon
Each player discards his or her hand and draws cards equal to the greatest number a player discarded this way.

The last 2 cards are restricted in type 1 if your mp group plays type 1 format (mine does)

Landkiller: I don't think he's THAT bad, and certainly not one of the worst cards to see print. Despite being restricted to black mana, just 1 is good for +1/+1. There are worse pumpables out there... I think the Duelist did a comparison a long time ago on them. I believe the best was Carrion Ants.

Unnerve sounds like a good addition.
I am afraid to be very "creature light" but hey, this is what the bridge and Disks are for.
I dont know some of those cards but I will look into it :)

Though it allows your opponents (as well as yourself) to filter through the decks, Anvil of Bogarden works quite well in multiplayer discard. Bottomless Pit is viable, but I don't like the randomness of the discard.

The Avatar of Woe's ACC works very well in both multiplayer AND discard. If its just early defense you are worried about, I have always enjoyed hiding behind Wall of Souls. Though it cannot attack, its ability is worth its weight in gold in multiplayer.

Since you are discarding, Reanimate or Animate Dead might be considered (for when something big hits a graveyard). In addition, Haunted Crossroads or Volrath's Stronghold will help keep your Hypnotic Specters in play.

I agree with Fire Slinger's comments on Windfall and Unnerve. I run four of each and they have yet to steer me wrong. Ill-Gotten Gains might be considered, as well. But be warned that the three cards that everyone goes after will spell your doom.

If you go B/U, consider Recoil -- a Boomerang that forces a discard, as well.

Some thoughts.
