MTV is celebrating it's 20th. Anniversary this month,............Wow, I can remember when there was NO MTV around. In fact, I remember hearing about it comming on with the fake rocket launch countdown "T-minus 45 seconds,........T-minus 40 seconds, ...". The first video was..........hey let's make it a question for the poll:

I remember a time when I was happy to have MTV. Now I skip past it almost as fast as the religion channels. Headbangers Ball is the last time I remember actually watching MTV for more than the split second as it flashed by.
Wait, I take that back. I remember another time when I was happy having MTV for a half hour at a time. It was when Jenny McCarthy was on that stupid show, whatever it was called. Oh well, MTV X is the only way to go now.....

I've watched MTV once. :)

Despite that, I'd be insulted if it wasn't Video Killed The Radio Star.

MTV is SOOOO bad right now. What happened to the videos? They put them on their spin-off channels, like MTV2 or MTVLatin or whatever.

I was watching some of the 20 year specials and one comment was made: "We can't do videos all day". Say what? You may not have to do them 24 hours, but do them a bit more than ONE hour (and NOT TRL). And during primetime, don't stick them during some time of day that no one watches... <sigh>

Yea...

I'll watch Daria when I can catch it, or Celebrity Death Match, but I don't tune in on a regular schedual for it's "reality" shows...

Bevis and Butt-Head was the last thing I was fanatical about.

I wish I could have been old enough to see it in it's first coupleof years... I hear that Devo was a regular with vidios other than "Whip It," and I want to see them, dammit!

Child of Gaea!!!

Headbanger's Ball was my favorite TV show of ALL TIME, ever!!! And I was pissed as hell when it got cancelled. By the way, if by any chance you're gonna read this before the show airs, Rob Halford is scheduled to perform at MTV's 20th Anniversary - the only reason to watch it, really, TONIGHT.

(I wish I had MTV-X :( )

MTV hurts me, right in the core of my musical soul...I do not like pop music...I hate it even, and thats all MTV is about..See, they never play music videos, and when they do, its on TRL, and all they show constantly is that pop crap.....But I do like the Real World, even though I've only seen about 2 episodes of this seasons...

Now I really like VH1...Although they don't show my hard rock videos, they have good stroy specials and game shows...And I loooooooove Bands on the Run......

Being the barometer of 12-24 age group popular culture, they tend to play the videos that the masses like, not what's all out there. Some article in the Post mentioned that out of the 3000 albums released each year, probably less than 1% get exposed on MTV.

I tend to like VH1 better too: Pop Up Videos, Behind the Band, and it seems they play more videos (but maybe that's because I see it at the same time every day :) )
