No effects during declare blockers step, passing priority back to you...

* Quick aside rulings question. If you wanted to sack your Yotian Soldier to the Atog, would you have to do that during the 'declare blockers' step, or do you have the opportunity to do so during the 'combat damage' step before final damage goes on the stack? I should know this, but my timing is rusty.

I can do it either time, but I think you're confused on the "final Damage" part. If I do it during Declare blockers step, he'd be 3/4 and 3 damage would go on the stack. If I wait until the damage step, only 1 damage would go on the stack. It would pump him up to 3/4 so he'd survive the hits, barring no other effects, but he'd still only deal 1 damage.

But I will sack the Soldier to the Atog to try to give him +2/+2, pass on priority.

Thanks Spidey, that's what I thought but wasn't sure. We've been doing it slightly wrong in the group recently, but I don't think it really has too much of an effect. Still, I'd like to be precise about it if I can control it.
