Nope, it was caught within the scope of a turn cycle, thus the ability is just put on the stack and resolves as normal. You get a caution for forgetting it though ;)

I'll block the 4/4 with my clergy and block two tokens with my wolves and horseman. I believe I survive it that way :)

I think so, but I'll also pay G to prevent your Clergy from regening. So if that resolves and you don't have anything else, Clergy and two of my tokens die and you take 12 from the unblocked guys.
