What's your current favorite 1st turn play. Let's keep it in extended, I don't want a dozen (Mountain, Black Lotus, Channel, Fireball).

One you've either seen or played and really loved.

In my enchantress deck I really like Forest, Exploration, Forest, Elf.

Best when followed by (forest, argothian enchantress, rancor, (draw), forest, seal of Strength (draw) . . .) And when you're lucky it's followed up by an endless worm which is fed a rancor. . .

Wow, I'm surprised to see your favorite first turn play is green. Admit it, your a green mage at heart!

Well its only fair, I'm a green mage and my favorite turn 1 play is blue.

Island, Sol Ring, Grim Monolith/Sapphire Medallion.

I believe that would count as extended.

Since, I haven't played in a while, none of my cards would even be legal for even Extended.

Some of my old fav's were:

Taiga, Kird Ape
Forest, Mana producing Elf
Swamp, Dark Ritual (remember those?), Hypnotic Spectre
Mountain, Goblin Baloon Brigade
...and of course, my absolute fav:

Forest, Jovens Ferrets :)

I only pulled this off once in a tourney, but plenty in casual...

Mountain, Mox diamond(discard land)
Lotus petal, Dark Ritual, Sneak Attack, Serra Avatar...

My 2nd turn kill was hard to beat - usually I just needed another mana... I ran this deck before Lotus Petals were restricted...

My favorite play to see someone else play is:

Forest, Exploration, Forest, Concordant Crossroads... It usually lets me know I'm in for a beat down...

This is probably my favorite that happened to me:

First turn(before Play/Draw, right after Alliances was relesed):

Me:I've got no land, but I'll not mulligan
Opponent, 12 yr. old kid: What? Can you do that?
Me: *Draws fourth spirit guide, tosses four spirit guides for four Gazzy Gazbahn Ogres.
Opponent: Oh. Wow. *lays mountain, Death Sparks me.

And the one that is arguably the best first turn play to see(from a Wakefield report):

Opponent plays Demonic Consultation for Endering Renewal. Reveals the three on the top of the deck, and one on the fifth slot from the top. Extends hand.

No, it's . . .

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition. Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... I'll come in again.

Ok, if we are going type 1 casual . . .

It's

Mountain, Mox Diamond, Sol Ring, Mana Vault, Urza's Incubator (Dragons)

Second Turn Two Headed Dragon (or the 6/5 artifact coveting one I can't remember the name of).

And I've done it more than once.

I don't really have many fun turn 1 plays for blue other than the one you mentioned (which I've also done). Unless you count the numerous times I've countered a first turn hippie or whatnot with a Force.

And for White it's Plains - Soul Warden in MP for me.

Followed by Plains Crusade.

Sonic Burst is better than the Spanish Inquisition. It does a cool 4 damage, whereas the Spanish Inquisition puts people into the Comfy Chair and pokes them with the Fluffy Pillows all day long except at teatime.

I got a Zero Turn kill before. It was on the Microprose Magic: The Gathering game with the cool Shandalar epic quest thing.

I was in a dungeon, and got a bonus that said 'Start with Black Lotus in play!" Quite unfair.

I get into a fight with a Goblin Lord or something and he wins the coin flip to go first. Immediately, the game pauses in response to his draw step (old rules here) and asks me, "Fast Effects?"

I look at my Black Lotus - Three mana. I look at my hand - 3 Mountain, Ball Lightning, Three Lightning Bolts. I look at Goblin Lord's life total - 8.

Wow. I killed him before he even entered his first main phase!

I guess Misdirecting a Channeled Fireball would count as a zero-turn kill as well.

November Extended....or flashback `99

Turn one; City of Traitors + Grim Monolith
Turn two; tap City, tap Monolith, play mountain cast Dragon and
Key. Pray they don't have an Edict or the Endless Wurm/Rancor
thing going on. :)

This actually happened. I got a great draw w/ my Fallen Angel deck:

First turn, Swamp, Black Lotus (I miss that card!), Dark Ritual, Bad Moon, Sengir Autocrat

Jim's first turn, Plains- done.

Second turn, Swamp, second Bad Moon, attack w/ Autocrat and three surf tokens for ten points.

Jim's second turn, Plains, CoP Black - he's tapped out.

Third turn, attack as above for ten points.

I've never killed someone that fast before...

I did this exactly once, in 4 player all out game.

Turn 1, Forest, Birds
Turn 2, Island, Tim
Turn 3, Island, Intruder Alarm, Shrieking Drake, Tim, Shrieking Drake, Tim, Shrieking Drake, Tim, ...

It'll never happen again, but it was worth every penny. Turn 3 killing 3 players uninterupted is just mean.

My Pros Bloom deck was funner, but it never went off very quickly. and I took it apart eons ago (one of those I've meant to put back together but never get around to).

That's pretty much it for me. Or a land and a Black Vise for a normal dual and going first.
