Mesmeric orb and Culling Scales

Personally, I think they're dog poo if you're stuck with'em on the board. The orb will get'cha in the longrun if you have a lotta permanents untapping, and the scales will eventually remove your permanents... but its still only good against weenies, and there have been better cards to contend with weenie decks.

Mesmeric Orb can easily be the kill card in a permission deck... Your counterspells typically will cost a lot less than what you're countering with them, and thus you will mill your opponent quicker than you mill yourself.

Blue also has many cards that tap cards other players have, which could speed up the milling the Orb does quite a bit.

Culling Scales is quite useful, expecially with a three-casting-cost Indestructable like Darksteel Ingot. It prevents the Scale from being destroyed by its own effect.

They have the uses... but it just seems like more of something I'd play against... instead of with...

Valid point there Orgg, but the problem is that its only good against people playing a weenie deck or something...

Still, nice idea though... especially if you try teaming it up with a March of the Machines or something to get your indestructables ready for war.

The Orb though... well... Sure you can use the blue tapping thing... but its not really as economical. Example:

Twiddle: tap one land to tap an opponents whatever. Eye for an eye trade off.

Aboshan, Cephalid Emperor: Four or more tapped permanents to tap whatever nonflyers your opponent plays (And if your opponent is an old school player, your not likely to have more than 3-4 creatures out on his side of the field)

Choking Tethers: tap four lands to tap up to four opponents creatures... if they have 4.

Etc. etc. etc....

I don't really see it very economical in any sense... Still... if you use a card like Feldon's Cane or something at the right time (assuming you have taken care of opponents creatures and spells somehow during the game) you can easily get a card advantage on them... But other than that, what can you do? Play Necropotence and pray?

Well... yeah...

lol, and if you draw the four you throw into your deck, you can always laugh until your library becomes nothing.

Good point... I always forget to state everything.

I'm only half human, give me a break!
