Megrim is one of those cards that is good, and completely misunderstood.
Megrim will not win you a game because you are playing discard and you happen to ding your opponent for 2 damage a couple of times. Megrim is not a support card. People want to use Megrim in the same way that old LD decks used to run Ankh of Mishra, and it Just Doesn't Work.
Megrim is a combo card. Megrim is a card that you use in conjunction with other cards in order to produce a disgusting effect that smashes your opponent's face in. Megrim is the card you play with Underworld Dreams and Wheel and Deal. Megrim is the card you use with Urza's Guilt and Memory Jar.
On its own? Yes, Megrim sucks out loud. But that's not what it's for.
