Massive pile o' Planeshift cards!

I think this thing could see some constructed play, if only in Invasion Block. Lets say that your opponent gets a third or fourth thurn Plague Spitter when you're playing Fires. You could summon the Ship, grab all of your 1/1 mana creatures, and other copies of the Ship. Not only does it help you win the race by giving your creatures flying, it thins your deck out of potentially dead cards. And when you do find an answer, you can bring them off the ship, drawing two cards a turn. Granted, you have to watch out for Recoil, but even then your deck is free of the dead cards.

In limited, this is only slightly worse than the Predator. Again, you have to worry about Recoil and Dismantling Blow, but I like it.

Thoughts?

Yes, but remember that Predator essentially had the ability "7, Tap: Destroy target creature", because its two abilties could work in conjunction with each other. Otherwise, it might not cost five mana to kill a creature with flying. While I don't doubt that the Weatherlight will give creatures flying for 2 (or maybe 3) mana, we should not presume that everything else will equal the statistics of the Predator. Personally, I think there might even be an ability that allows you to put more cards on it for a high cost.. but that's me. I won't make many predictions.

Cateran Emperor: I'm soooooo glad you remembered the "f" in the title of this thread. ;)

Actually, I think that making weatherlight similar to predator would make it look like this

Skyship Weatherlight
5
Artifact

3: Look through your library for an atifact or a creature card, reveal it, and remove it from the game.

4,T: Take a card removed from the game by Weatherlight and put it in your hand.

Now, this is not overpowered (Planar portal, anybody?) and, again, has the 7,t: to do something, like predator. Each ability by itself is kinda useless.

Check the other Planeshift thread for a very _interesting_ take on Skyship, by Mag2.

Here it is, for the lazy - or time-deprived - people... ;)

Skyship Weatherlight (Rare)
4
Legendary Artifact

When Skyship Weatherlight comes into play, search your library for any number of artifact and/or creature cards and remove them from the game. Then shuffle your library.

4, Tap: Choose a card at random removed from the game with Skyship Weatherlight and put that card into your hand.

4: Regenerate Skyship Weatherlight.
And I just want to say this is much better than what I had thought up.

For 8 mana, get any creature you want, right now.

And you want it again next turn, for only 4 mana more?

You must draw a Blinding Angel or your deck just loses? But not playing black?

Problem solved.

Okay, okay... it's not Demonic Tutor.
But it's an "articreaturific" helluva good try!

Thank heaven this didn't come out while Urza's Block was still legal.

My god. Picture this alongside Dream Halls...or Flicker...

Only problem is, Pillage still wrecks Weatherlight's day. Oh well. I can see it used in U/W control to go get your kill card whenever you're ready for it.

Oooo. Pillage. Wow. One card, huh?

Skyship Weatherlight is not so insanely powerful that all red players will begin playing or siding Pillages. Unless they're LD players. Otherwise, I think it's fairly safe.

It will probably see better play in Limited.

True. Artifacts like this may seriously change the metagame. My pillages are good again!
