Monday, May 17, 2004. A historic day in the United States, as the state of Massachusetts legalized gay marriage. Awesome. Totally awesome. A groundbreaking development that will hopefully continue state by state or nationally within our lifetimes. Congrats to Massachusetts!

Yeah, there already was a gay marriage thread, but that was a San Francisco one and Mayor Gavin's potentially illegal actions. This, on the other hand, is a historic and fully legal step in the right direction--an end to one more type of discrimination.

Wait, what's the difference between this and San Francisco again? SF just went ahead and issued liscenses without the law being passed first?
